Has anyone applied for SS disability and gotten it? I worked for a hospital for 6 1/2 years. I was a supervisor there, had to go on medical leave due to my Fibromyalgia, I wasn't able to return. I applied for disability back in April '05 and have been through 3 or 4 denials. I am now waiting to take it to trial and they are backed up for 1 1/2 years. I have been without income for almost 2 years now. They sure don't make it easy for someone that truely needs disability. I still have another 8 months or so before I hear when my court date is. Fibromaylgia is a hard disease to deal with and then to have the hassles of no one believing you, meds not working, and the court system not wanting to give you disability. It is no wonder Depression is one of the key symptoms.

You might check out a disability assistance organization to help. It is hard to get SS approved with FM. On another FM Board I read where a group called ALLSUP is FM friendly/literate and has had good success with a boasted 97% approval rate. Apparently their fees are 25% of total award (limited to $5,300). At least one other person on that Board had already applied before securing their services. Her claim was just approved after only 6 months. She attributes that to their help because of their help with continual calls to SS on her behalf.
