what if a piece of your gall bladder is not removed?

Dont believe that is possible or performed. Your gallbladder is a pouch and they remove the whole pouch but they do leave behind the duct. Is that what you mean? Remember that your gallbladder is just the holding tank for bile, your liver is what produces it.

Yes, they should leave the duct to take over the work of the gb....
