Post nasal drip or sinus drainage could be causing your throat to hurt. Allergy may be the root cause.
I use plain Robitusin at bedtime to help keep mucous in the throat thinned. This reduces the sore throat due to drainage.

Is your throat hurting after your sleeping? If it is its probably due to dry air.Buy a humidifer and run it in your bedroom

Do you sleep with your mouth open? I've noticed that if I fall asleep with my mouth open, I wake up with a sore throat. If this is the case, the last poster may be right . . a humidifier could help.

Yes, like DVS said, if you sleep with your mouth open that could be why, especially if you snore. They sell chin straps you can wear that keep your mouth closed during sleep. I'm not sure where to get one, but you could probably find one in your local medical supply store, or call a home health care organization and ask them where you could get one, if this seems like something worth trying.
