Well let's just say that the age people tell me that I look that I wish it were true. Over Thanksgiving I had a family dinner at my house and one of my friends had told me infront of my mom and older sister who is 31 that I looked much older than her and if you could imagine that hit me like a ton of bricks.....that comment like many other's that I heard over time have hurt me greatly. My self esteem is non existant and now Ive been searching my area for some type of peel that could help out my skin. I have read aout the skin culture peel 2000 and read a little on the TCA peel but am not quite sure. If anyone who reads this knows anything about these peels please let me know...

Thanx

P.s. this is my first time posting:(

hairier yet..

Jazz:

Was looking through and saw "looking old as hell" and decided to take a look at your post. No expert on the subject by any means, but wanted to inject my two cents worth and ask you a few questions that might have something to do with your situation. Do you think what you're refering to could be genetic? Does your mother, father or other relatives appearances tend to look older than they actually are? If so there's a good chance what you speak of is hereditary. I have seen that be that case before..

What has your lifestyle been over the years? Were you a heavy partier when younger or are you a heavy partier now? Do you keep late hours, miss sleep, work shift work, drink, smoke cigarettes, marijuana, do drugs? If the answer is yes to any, that could affect your appearance a good bit. I've also known men and women who had that kind of lifestyle and who looked much older than they actually were. That kind of lifestyle is very hard on the body and definately can cause premature aging.

Did you or do you "worship the sun" as some refer to it? Do you or have you ever sunbathed or tanned extensively? I've seen beautiful girls I knew in high school that literally baked themselves in the sun and in tanning beds until they ruined their skin. Some of thier faces would literally look like leather due to the effects of overexposure to the sun. That might be a factor for you.

I'd be very careful about the peel your speaking of. If you do it please get the advice of a trained professional.

Take care and best of luck.

I agree with the above poster that genetics and lifestyles, including "worship the sun", have a lot to do with how you look. If you are constantly under stress or pressure, it takes a toll on your appearance too. Try to live and eat healthy, relax, do exercise and wear a sunblock. Don't worship the sun obviously. I wish I knew better in my younger days.

I'm much older than you and over the past few years have been using a terrific anti-aging cream made by Janson Beckett, called Alpha Derma CE. This stuff has drastically improved my skin appearance, making it look firmer and more youthful. I always have friends comment on how good my skin looks compared to others of my age. I'd recommend you look into it. Peels sound a bit aggressive for someone of your age and I'd seek the advice of a trained professiona like the above poster said.

My husbands entire family aged very early in life. All(sister, brother, mother) their hair turned white and to add insult to injury he was also bald at a young age. He looked 50 when he was in his middle 30's. He was never bothered by those comments at all and neither should you be....although people should just keep their mouths shut sometimes. I can only suggest you go to a good Dermatologist or even a plastic surgeon for advice.

Hugs..I know how you feel. Someone made a comment a few years ago that they thought my older sister was my younger sister so I know how it feels. As for your friend, why would she even say something like this knowing a comment like that was bound to hurt? If tables were reversed, how would your friend feel? No one likes to be told they look old or older or compared in age to someone else. Unless asked, they should keep their comments to themselves.!
