Not sure what board to post lip problems under, but here goes:
As winter approaches and the air starts to get dry here, I'm experiencing the same problem I've gotten every winter for the past 5 years or so: when I wake up in the morning, there is a cut on the inside of my upper lip, sometimes with blood. it usually heals over during the day but I'm just wondering if this is any serious thing as it hasn't always been this way. will it eventually progress to a harelip kinda thing?
also does anyone else have this happen on a regular basis, and is there anything to help it besides lip balm? obviously sleeping with my mouth closed prevents it but I can't seem to control that :)

Dry inside winter air does tend to dry out lips and your skin. Buy a humidifer and run it in your bedroom that will really help. Coat you lips with vaseline also at bed time..

one thing i do every night before i go to bed is use carmex on my lips.i also use it off and on during the day too, espescially when i have to go outside(i live in MN,very dry air here right now).this is really good stuff.i have used this for like 15 years now and do not have the split lip thing happen anymore since i started this but did ALOT before that.there is just something about the carmex that seems to work much better than any other lip products i have tried before it.blistex was a total joke and didn;t help at all.the carmex just stays on much better and longer.when i put it on at night and rub it in.it is still on my lips a bit in the morning too.just a suggestion for you,its worked really well for me for many years now.hope this helps some.
