A year after initial diagnosis of genital herpes these are the symptoms that are still present. Now please let me know if anyone is having the same symptoms because i have asked on another board and they told me these are not symptoms of geniital herpes but if they are not then what are they? Ive never had any symptoms up until a year ago. I dont take any medications, i watch my diet, im in great shape, no previous problems of any kind. when the sun is out my lips are on fire, like if i smeared peppers on and around my lips. Its just unreal what it feels like. Also sometimes i feel a little discomfort on genital areas but seems like the sun irritates my skin to the extreme. Never had any problems like this before. My bottom lip looks like i am pouting because some of the layer of skin that is there to protect my lip from uv rays has just literally not ever come back. Its like in that area ill get white dead skin like if my lips are chapping up but this is 24/7. My lips get dry and wrinkly at times but that is not too big of a deal. I drink plenty of water so this is not from dehydration. And just today i noticed i had a red blotch of my penis. Never had this before. This is the first time. It almost looks like a rash so this might not be a symptom maybe just irritated from something. Not sure. Please anyone with information that can help me please post about the lips. And also what is a specialist in infectious diseases called? how can i look them up?

Whatever is going on with your lips has nothing to do with genital herpes.

Some people get oral herpes outbreaks when exposed to sunlight but your reation sounds like something else. Even oral hvs2 doesn't present itself like that. Herpes on the mouth tends to be blisters or sores, not general overall burning lips.

Try a dermatologist or internist to see what it is.

But you never know.
