OK this may be gross but here goes. I have been having the worst bloating. It started about a year ago. After everything I eat I feel so sick and bloated and my stomach is as hard as a rock. Also the worst thing is that I burp ALL THE TIME!!! I can drink a sip of water and burp. I am constaly burping and always (Sorry) farting. If anyone knows what this is and what I could do to help it please let me know! Thanks

This indicates that your gut flora are out of balance and you should start taking a Probiotic supplement to re-balance them. This contains Lactobacillis and other friendly bacteria that live in your gut. Keep them in the fridge, do not take with hot drinks and take twice daily on an empty stomach. This should recolonise the good bacteria and your gas and bloated belly should resolve.

The supplements she recommended is some of the same stuff found in yogurt with live active cultures so yes it is safe. Get the supplements from your local walmart or wherever and pick up some yogurt too as these will all help.

Gerd is the same as acid reflux and it can become a serious condition if not treated. Sinc w can't post links here I would suggest you do a search on Gerd or Acid Reflux to get more info on the subject. I have it and I take a drug called Nexium each day to control it. Too much acid coming back up your esophagus can eat away at it, which is dangerous.

Well I really don't have acid or heartburn. Its just the burping and the gas after I eat a bite outta food. My stomach gets as hard as a rock after I eat and I am so bloated. I am always burping and having gas!! Its terrible!! Is what I have sound like GERD or something simple that can be treated without a doc? Thanks!!

Personally, I think you should see a doctor. They're the only ones that can diagnose you correctly. Plus if its been going on for a year chances are that it could be an underlying disease or something. No worries though, I'm sure you'll be okay. But you really should consider going to the doctor. The least he can do is run a blood count to make sure there's no infection. Wouldn't it be a releif to know that there's nothing to worry about? Plus he can possible give you some meds that can control it. You said you don't like medications, but I think they're the only way you'll get better.

Go and checked out by a doc to make sure it is nothing serious. Gas and bloating could all be symptoms of IBS, but start taking the live yogurt and Probiotics and your stomach should start to feel better.

You got some good advise, but i thought i would add my 2cent. Gas & bloating are a signe of a disruption in digestion. There are many things that can cause this. A healthy liver & gallbladder are important; a healthy pancreas is very important; sufficient hydrochloric acid secretion is important.

Yes, i would have all these items checked by a physician.

To augment your yogurt & acidophilus, use onions & garlic in diet or supplement. Also consider an herbal formula to strengthen your pancreas + pancreatin enzyme.

Reduce or eliminate simple sugars, and increse fiber foods.

If you do all the above and continue your symptoms, it is likely u have food sensitivity or allergy. Wheat & Dairy foods are not tolerated well by many folks.

Good point Tangle,

I had stomach problems that never seemed to get better whatever I did for a bit. It was not until I reached a crisis point of having severe stomach pains and skin problems too that the doc decided to get me tested for food allergies/intolerances and low and behold I had intolerances to wheat, cashew nuts, yeast and dairy (lactose intolerance). Since cutting these out of my diet and taking other natural remedies my stomach has been ok.

So yes, if your bloating does not resolve, get tested for food intolerances too, but in the meantime, start the Probiotic supplements.

Consider chewing your food very slowly and completely. It benefits a couple of ways. First, it helps break the food down, which reduces gas. Secondly, you have enzymes in your saliva which aid in digestion.

Try switching to different foods, and note the reaction. You can find lots of information about this on the internet.

I have also a similar problem. I would stick with probiotics, pb-8 is good primal defense i heard is better which is what I will be taking. Avoid antibiotics as much as possible because it kills both the friendly and bad bacteria in your system. Primal Defense has 14 different strands of friendly bacteria- if you take this start slow you might have some die off,flu like symptoms. Sugar and dairy make my symptoms noticably worse. Try a higher fiber diet more than 40 grms a day. hope this helps.

Do you also have problems with diarhea or constipation? Do you eat a few bites, your stomach gurgles and you have to make a fast trip to the throne? If so, you may have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I have had it since right after the birth of my 2nd child. There is no cure for it, but it can be managed to a degree. First, stay away from caffeine and carbonated drinks. Stay away from spicy foods. Cut down the stress in your life. Stress greatly aggravates the condition. There are also medications that will help with the cramping and gas symptoms. It's not a fun condition, but there are things you can do to feel better. Good luck.

It might be a good idea to have your thyroid checked as well. Pregnancy can bring on thyroid problems. Digestion problems are one of the symptoms as well as constipation, miscarriages and indigestion. It would be very wise as other posters suggested to illiminate white flour, white sugar and rice from your diet as they may aggravate the problem. Check out the thyroid board on this site and see if you have any other symptoms. I hope this helps.
