:(Ok, for the past few months I have been getting this horrible tingling/tickling sensation in my scalp. It is more like a tickling sensation in a small quarter size section of my scalp. It will be only in one spot at a time but the tickling feeling is so intense that it feels like I can't think straight. I do of course have TMJ and I know that causes tingling but this is more intense like a tickling. Does anyone else have this problem?

It probably just a sensory response from the tmj but my sister and mother - neither of which had tmj both experienced this with colicks (sp?) - they both had wavy hair where sections grew in differnt directions and both used to complain about a section that alwys felt like they were being tickled or pulled on - they would rub or scratch the scalp or pull on the hair in that section. My sisters doesn't seem to bother her that much any more unless she uses hairspray. I know that sounds strange and is probably not of much help to you. Have you tried tying something around your head like a bandana or kerchief - sometimes add'l pressure applied to the area can help.

Yeah, actually if I wrap a towel around my head this seems to make it lessen and eventually subside. The only problem is sometimes it feels like it is coming from my face itself. I don't know maybe one day it will quit altogether maybe it is something I will have to learn to deal with.

I get wierd sensations on my scalp and face all the time, sometimes it feels like a burning sensation, sometimes a ticklish one, other times it feels like someone is poking on me. Theses sensations normally don't last long, but long enough for me to notice. Feel luckly you don't get what I used to get...back when my TMJ was at its worst, I used get "pimples" in my scalp!! At least thats what my doctor thought they were. To me they were more like blood bumps, meaning they wouldn't "pop" like a pimple, but if you scratched them they did bleed. It was so gross. I hated getting my hair cut. When you touched them, they HURT!

For the last two months I have had a tickling sensation in my scalp, face, cheek now part of my tongue.
It started in a triangle shape at the top left side of my front scalp and has since started on my left temple and the left side of my tongue. It is not all the time, but when it comes up I want to press my scalp, tug on my hair. I do have TMJ and use a night guard. I also grind my teeth. The last few months have been extremely stressful. Is this TMJ sid effects, should I see a dentist? My PCP said that it was herpes, that everyone has it in their blood and I could take drugs for inflamation. That didn't sound right. At the time I saw her, it was only on my scalp. Now the sensations are happening more often. Any ideas? Thanks.

Angel -- It really does sound like it could be TMJ related. These doctors are so quick to tell you this or that,, but have NO idea what is really going on in your body. If you only knew how many other symptoms I've had from this awful condition and the stuff the doctors said and gave me. Have you ever tried massage therapy? It works wonders for me.
