Hi! I have been lurking (stalking?) this board for a while and I have learned so much I haven't really needed any info! Well until now atleast..

Anyway I am 24 and I have been on a few meds for pain including a muscle relaxer called Skelaxtin. I have been getting these straight from the doctor until recently when I called in for a refill and apparently my insurance doesn't cover this paticular med and it was replaced with Soma. Never heard of it. Well I'm sure like many of you my medication regimen over time has included many different meds and I have been pretty tolerant to everything so when I tried the Soma imagine my surprise when the next thing I realize is that it's the next day!
Talk about knocking me off my feet! Personally I don't really mind..if I'm totally out of it, atleast I'm not in pain right? Ya well that doesn't work so well when one has a toddler. I live with my mother so luckily my son did not end up watching himself, but I can't have her taking care of him every night as much as the idea of dead sleep appeals to me...

I don't go back to the doctor for another week or so, so I was just wondering if anyone else had experiance with this medication? Would the sedating side effect lessen with time? Any different muscle relaxers to suggest? Any advice at all?

I also take Subutex,Ultram and Paxil oh and Flinestone vitamins.

Happy (and pain free!) Holidays to all~

soma does this to me aw well. I actually break the soma in 1/2 and take 1/2 a tablet instead of a full size tablet and it does not sedate me. PLEASE be AWARE that not all meds can be broke in 1/2 especially long lasting or timeed released medication so always talk to your doctor or pharmicist first.

Hey mama,
I was on Soma 4x day for a year or so, and you do get adjusted to the sedation after a while. Pepper is right you can cut them in half for a while until you get used to them.
