Exercise...30 minutes a day. Walking 1-3 miles a day will also help.

Get your vitamin D levels checked. Getting D levels to the 40-50 range might help your HDL numbers (if your D is in fact low).

Dark chocolate or cocoa might help HDL (several squares/daily). Go for 70-80%+ dark chocolate. Several pubmed studies back this up.

Tomato paste might raise HDL, but eating a can of tomato paste isn't very appetizing. A daily glass of red wine can also help HDL.

The olive oil/avocado thing might help HDL too, but I'm not sure about overdoing that. I wouldn't guzzle down glasses of olive oil just to raise HDL.

Just remember, there are several classifications of Olive oil. The only RAW Olive oil that has been trialled for beneficial levels of cholesterol levels is Extra Virgin Olive oil.

In Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece and Turkey no other olive oil is consumed in it's raw state other then the top notch extra.
Not Virgin olive oil or olive oil. (Only used for cooking and lamp oil respectively.)

Oatmeal is a good way to naturally lower your cholesterol. <removed> Like many others on these boards I felt awful while taking the drugs the doctor gave me for lowering mine so I just started exercising a lot, eating foods that will lower it and losing weight. WooHoo! Feeling better every day.

Cut out all processed foods for starters. Then cut back on carbs from grains especially wheat.

A glass of wine (red preferred) or a beer a day or so will raise it substantially.
