Hello everyone, in a post a few days ago I asked how Dilauded could show up in my urine when all I use is Methadone and Lortab. The intelligent people here let me know that some drugs like the Lortab may metabolize into Dilauded and show up in the UA. That was great to know but I got really anxious and upset because the Doctor could release me from his care, and these are nice people who I've been with for around two years... a nightmare in my mind..
I got word from my nurse this morning that my second urinalysis came back negative for Dilaudid. So you know I am so relieved.... I actually broke down once and bawled for a few minutes on Saturday because I felt horrible to know that they probably thought I was a drughead taking advantage of them. Thanks again to those who responded to my original post on this situation. Take care, eddie

Thanks, I am very thankful and happy it got " sorted out". My Doctor has been very nice about the whole thing, which is great , you can imagine how some people react to these things, well, we read about it all the time right here on the 'boards, how people who take pain meds or lots of meds get treated. My Doctor told me just recently he found out that one of the , I think its an anti-depressant, I'm sure now it was Zoloft he was talking about , has been found to metabolize into a benzodiazepine in some people ! Which is nothing to really worry about, unless you do show positive for benzos and your not prescribed them, you'd be in the same boat I was.... Happy Holidays y'all ! eddie

I'm glad you posted about your situation. I had no idea this could happen.
Not only could something like this happen to me as a person being tested, but I also have hiring authority at my job. We have every candidate do a drug test. I wonder how this would have played out if it would have been a pre employment screen. I know not everyone tests for pain killers, but I know my company does. I got a call when I did my screening asking me for my prescriptions to show proof of a prescription for dilaudid.
Thanks for sharing.

glad things worked out for you eddie.what i really don;t understand about this same thing happening to people over and over who post here about it,why in the heck don't these docs actually know about how a drug is actually metabilized and what it breaks down to?i mean seriously, people are getting let go from their PMs over these false UAs,you would think any good pain clinic would just 'know' this info for god sake?
this very thing happened to me.the hydromorphone showed up in my UA at my very first UA at my 'new' PM clinic.i saw the results of it when i requested all my medical records but nothing was ever said to me about it and was wondering just how in the hell actual diaudid ended up in my UA without me ever actually using it ever at that point for anything?or why my PM never actually said anything to me about it,i mean geez, dilaudid and nothing from my PM about why it was in my urine?after i saw shore post about this very thing a few years ago,it was only then that i knew why it was never actually brought up to me by my PM at a new clinic even.becasue it was expected to just 'be there".go figure.any place that does UAs on people taking opiate based meds needs to really read up on what could be in someones UA without them ever actually taking anything they were not supposed to.thats just ridiculous for them to be that totally clueless,ya know?if this issue alone could get some very compliant patient just kicked out of PM over this,it needs to be basic common knowledge to the folks doing the UAs.pretty basic stuff there.a little education wouldn't hurt.
okay,i will get off my box now.have a nice day people.Marcia
