View Full Version : EBV, adenoids blocking 75% airway, one enlarged tonsil, swollen breast nodes

having chronic EBV (for me, it's been 12 years) was enough of a problem. then, starting about 4 years ago, one of my tonsils persisted in staying swollen/enlarged. now, a recent MRI this summer for an unrelated issue showed that my adenoids are blocking 75% of my airway. in the past 3 months, my breast lymph nodes have been swollen as well, enlarging my breasts as a whole.

throughout these past 4 years, i've had intermittent night sweats/chills, low grade fevers, feelings of malaise/aches and fatigue, dizziness, and most recently (in the past year or so) itchiness. for a while i chalked it up to chronic mono (EBV infection), but now i'm not so sure.

recently doing some research online, i found that because of these things i might be at increased risk for lymphoma. does this match anyone else's experience?

should i be concerned, or am i just being a hypochondriac? i am going to see my new primary on the 18th, and hopefully he will help me figure this out or at least send me to a specialist.

if he does send me to a specialist, what can i expect?

thanks for your help

Hello - If I were you, I would insist upon seeing a throat specialist. I know a person who had similar symptoms for several years. Now he has learned that he has a cancerous tumor on his tonsils and is having radiation to treat this.
That is not to say that your problem has anything to do with that, but the fact that you have lost weight, get night sweats, feel tired, and have swollen lymph nodes seems to indicate that your body is trying to fight something and is trying to tell you that!
These days, we almost have to be our own diagnosticians. If you learn that it is nothing, then that would ease your mind and stop your worrying for no reason.
But, if it turns out to be something serious, you will be able to start treatment.
You should write down all your symptoms and take a copy of your MRI report to your next appointment and not let the doctor leave you until all your questions are answered to your satisfaction. Good luck!

Thanks for your support. Yes, and that's exactly what I plan to do. I'm not exactly sure what the testing options are, but trying to find out what is wrong by any means is better than letting it go until or if things get worse. I guess because I'm young, my previous primary blew off the concern I had. I hope this new one will pay attention... I won't let it go until he does.
