The numbers don't look bad to me, but do you have other risk factors? Family history of heart disease? And did you get a breakdown of the LDL and HDL particle sizes?

If your triglycerides were elevated or your particle sizes lousy, I guess your doctor felt Crestor would help. If, you have no risk factors, triglycerides are normal, and particle sizes are good.... then no idea. Only thing slightly elevated is your LDL, if you use 100 as the 'normal' cutoff level.

I have no family history of heart disease and i dont have the breakdown of the ldl. I have brought my cholseterol down 22 points in 3 months, I figure in another 3 months It should be better, right now I have decided on not taking the medication.

I think also that it is some concerned over being sued if something heart related occurs. I mean, you go and have the bloodwork done and it comes back "a little too high for todays standard". Those numbers keeps getting lower for total and LDL. So, the Dr figures not prescribing opens the door for a possible suit-no matter how small-because he or she knew you were "a little high". That's my 2 cents. then, there is the money and perks involved.

I don't think so - especially not Crestor, which is the strongest statin out there.

I would definitely try lifestyle and diet changes for another 3 months. Five years ago your numbers would have been considered 'normal'. Now , with the lower guidelines (which I don't trust), you are borderline.

Like you said I will try harder to get the numbers down before taking anything.
Thanks
