I recently developed some kind of rash, not red but slighty bumpy, itchy and irritating, on my eyelids, and around my eye sort of. It is worse on the one eye. I do not have any known allergies, have not really done anything different in my diet, i am mildly detoxing, using an herbal tea and apple cider vinegar.

I am in the middle of exams, so i'm pretty stressed, but i can't think of anything that would have caused this, i also don't ever have excema or anything like that. Is there anything i can do??? its very uncomfortable, i tried putting baking soda water on my eyelid, helps for a bit, and i also put tea bags on my eyes, it soothes for a while, but doesn't make it go away!!!

Do you wear eye shadow? If so you could be allergic to that, or any eye creams.

yes i wear eyeshadow, but i have never had an allergic reaction before, and i have not started using any new products. I have no worn make up for over 2 days, and its not going away..... thanks though. Someone mentioned something about it possibly being from stress, but either way its extremely uncomfortable, and very irritating, and since i don't know where it came from i don't know how to get rid of it.....

It may not be your eyeshadow, but just in case it is, when this happened to me, it took about a week to go away after I stopped wearing the shadow. So give it some time. If you are wearing any that may have red dye in it, it does cause problems for some people. Not saying the shadow is red, but it uses red to get the proper color. I think maybe you should see a doc, he will most likely have something to stop the itching. Anything I can think of for itching, isn't made for the eye area. Try some eye moisture, Loreal's, a pretty good one and they have non allergenic. Sorry I am not much help.

thanks... anything helps, i didn't know about the red dye thing... i did recently just start wearing a darker purple, so maybe that was, which sucks cuz i love that eye shadow.... i don't have a problem with any other makeups, or that brand specifically. I put some apple cider vinager mixed with water on my eye and around my eye, seemed to take some of the irritation away after it stung for a while, but it was even more red today. So I took some benadryl, which seems to have taken some of the swelling and redness away, but it is still kinda red, itchy, and now looks like my skin in stretched out!!! I just want my eyes to be normal again, such a horrible place to get a rash or reaction to this. My eyes are SO swollen and puffy in the morning i don't even look like myself. Hoping that once i'm done exams it will clear up, not fun.... if you think of anything else let me know! Thanks again

Hey Tiffifries, the purple shadow was the cause of my irritation also. I really like that color, but just couldn't wear it. I just recently found Loreal's bare minerals eye shadow, and the purple is really nice. I have been wearing it for about 3 weeks now and have no irritation. So after your irritation goes away, give it a try. Hope you are getting better and doing good on your exams.

Hi, thanks for all the info... I went to the doctor today, he told me to use a specific gentle cleaner and lotion, cetaphil? and some antihistamine pills, and some cream, don't like putting too much crap on my eyes cuz i'm not a fan of pre-mature aging, and strong medical stuff on your eyes cant be good in the long run. I'm just wondering if it really was that purple eye shadow, or just because i am under so much stress.... i have worn purple eye shadows many times before, not this specific one, but i would assume there is red dye in all purple eye shadows, now i'm scared to wear that one again cuz i don't want this to happen! I look hideous!!! anyways thanks again,

Maybe you've developed a new allergy. I second the opinion above to just see an eye doctor and be done with it.

If you really prefer to keep trying things on your own, no time to go see someone for a while, there are various brans of "artificial tears", mostly for Dry Eye, I think, probably wouldn't affect lids. Mine itch sometimes and I'm afraid I'll damage my implants (had cataract surgery) by rubbing from habit w/out realizing. I've told the specialist and she always says allergy.
