I'm having a hard time getting motivated to go to the gym lately. There is no way I can go in the morning, so I have to go after work. Typically I work all day, come home for dinner, rest a bit and then go to the gym. But with the cold weather and dark skies I'm really tired and its hard to get up from the sofa. Of course, whenever I finish my workout and leave the gym I feel great. :) I'm warm, energized and awake!

Any tips to get me to the gym when I'm feeling cold and tired?

go to the gym right after work. Worked for me. Once I got home I never left.

This sounds silly, but I will buy myself some new workout clothes so I will feel like it's a waste if I don't use them! Of course I buy ones that I like and will feel good about myself in.

Other than that, I agree that going sooner than later makes it easier. If you put it off TOO late in the night, it's easier to not go. You can always eat a small snack before going so you aren't too hungry around dinner time. Once you make a habit out of it, it's usually easier.

Absolutely! Fortunately for me, the gym is between work and home so it's easy to go.

Also, don't allow yourself to think about those 'excuses' you mentioned, those are your biggest de-motivators. Hopefully in time you become methodical about going to the gym, you get off work, you hit the gym.

Actually, I kind of like warming up my body from a good workout and stepping outside when it's cold.

setting a goal for yourself will motivate you...you dont have to go to the gym to stay in shape...running or walking when you get home, etc...
