The docs all told my hubby who has severe airway problems and thyroid disease if he lost weight it would help his apnea. Well he is on the thyroid meds and has been running 3 miles every other night and dieting. He lost almost 40 pounds and is now only about 15 lbs overweight. He went in for a sleep study since it had been 2 years and he has not improved at all. they said his machine cannot be turned down even one number. He still stops breathing too much. We are soooo upset he has worked so hard and lost alot of weight and exercised and it did not help at all. Has anyone else had this happen to them??? I just wanted us to feel a little better about his airway problem but now we don't. Now he won't go to the dentist because novicane won't numb him and docs have said he can't be sedated because he just cannot breath. last time he was sedated he got down to lower than 50% o2 level and they couldn't get him on a vent , they bagged him for 40 minutes and that was scarry. Thank God for cpap, I just wonder how long we would have him around without it.

oh yes he feels much better and looks great!! He had been sick with thyroid disease which was undiagnosed for over a year and when they finally treated it what a change. He has worked soo hard to lose the weight and is training to run 5k runs especially for the race for the cure run in honor of his late mom. I guess we were just so surprised it didn't help his apnea , I know other people who came off their cpap after losing weight. I guess it must be due to anatomical problems , but he says cpap has helped him soo much he will keep using it. And he is very committed to keeping his weight down!!
