I went to a new neuro today & all the symptoms I told her that I had been worried about her comment was "don't worry about it". I waited out front for 45 min before going into her office. She sat with a computer & asked me questions. She had me stand on one foot & jump & that ain't easy for an old woman. Also, had to close my eyes. She stuck my feet with toothpicks & checked reflexes. That's about it. sorry so long. Does this sound normal for a first visit?

She is sending me for an EEG & closed MRI. I told her I'd rather have open but she says they are not as accurate. I'm wondering if that is true or if she has stock in the place she is sending me. Do any of you know? I have inner ear & balance problems & I have a problem with being enclosed. Thanks.

I couldnt really tell u about the differences in results from open and closed MRIs, but I have had both done before and although I dont like enclosed places or tight places, the closed MRI was quick and not so bad. If the doctor feels is better to do the closed MRI, I think you should have it done. Best of luck

My MR son just went for a MRi. We started out in the open one cause I thought it would be better for him. BOY WAS I WRONG. The differences is the closed one is more confining and louder, but much faster. Each picture takes only 30 sec to 1 minute. The open MRI pictures take anywhere from 4 to 7 minutes. Our problem was he could not lay still for that amount of time so the closed worked best for us. They even allowed him to get up and move around 1/2 way through.(before the started the pictures the needed the dye injected.
You could always ask your doctors for some medicine to sedate you if you think that will help.
