i was taken 400mg. of wellbutrin sr. for over 5 years and recently have been lowering my dosage every week for the past 4 weeks...i am now at 100mg a day with one more week to go.
the withdrawl symptoms include EXTREME fatigue(down to my bones), diarrhea, shocking sensations in head, terrible cold sweats and just unmotivated..just want to sleep all the time.
i am going off the wellbutrin because i have been on 60mg Cymbalta for the past 3 months and has worked excellent...i also take 50mg. of dexedrine daily.
the question i have is how long should i anticipate these withdrawls and if it gets worse...should i go to the ER at the hospital or a rehab to help with the withdrawl?
any comments or suggestions please!!!!
also..would taking l-tyrosine (the amino acid precursor to dopamine) help?
Thanks and hope everyone is doing well!!!

If you can slow down on the tapering schedule that may help. Try going 2 weeks between steps down. Of course, talk to your doctor about all of this. Come up with a plan together, not just you out on your own monkeying around with your meds.

I'm curious about the dexidrine. That's an amphetamine and is very addictive. They were popular in the 60's and maybe early 70's.

I don't know anything about the l-tyrosine. Again, see your doctor. Talk to your pharmacist. The interactions between meds is always a concern.

I'd also talk to your doctor about tapering it slower... some people can lower the dosage quickly, but if it's causing you trouble, talk to them about it.

I'm glad to hear that Cymbalta has worked well for you... it actually made me exhausted! 30mg made me not too tired but I didn't notice a difference, but 60mg made me super tired where I wanted to sleep all the time. I'm tired easily and often don't get enough sleep, so I'm sure it exaggerates what I already have. Just for your reference in case you do ever go off of Cymbalta, I think I was back to my normal self after about a month of stopping. I lowered my dose to 30mg for a few weeks and then my doctor said I could either stop taking it all together or alternate taking it every other day and then stop. I had soo much energy when stopping and had trouble sleeping and would get a lot of night sweats, but other than this, it was not that bad. I had energy, so even without a good night's sleep, I felt okay for the most part and more alert than when taking it.
