yes the copper one (paragaurd) is approve as well as advertised for women who have not had a child yet. The Merina is recomended for women who have already given birth. The thing is if your young you'll have trouble finding a doctor to give you one, because IUD's are know to increase STD's so they don't like to give them to young single women. HAHA I am a young MARRIED women and I can't find a doctor who will do it, the excuses they give is that I am in the age group at most risk for STD's. Hello just because someone is young dosn't mean they sleep around, sometimes I think doctors stereotype was too much. but good luck hopefully you can find a doctor who isn't an idiot and if you do I wanna meet them lol.

i went to my local planned parenthood, and am getting one there. i am 24, married, and have not had any children (my pets dont count apparently ;) they didnt mention anything to me about not having any children. but yea, technically you CAN get the paragard, its just a matter of finding a place that will do it for you. i hear good things about it so im excited about getting mine :)
