Hi,

My triglycerides jumped from 93 to over 200 in the last four months.
Also during that same time, my HDL dropped from 59 to 46. LDL went up about ten points.

During that time, my diet remained unchanged (vegetarian). And I was walking an extra 15 miles per week.

Does this even sound possible?

Any increase in carbohydrates, fruit juices or sugars? That tends to raise triglycerides.

The HDL and LDL changes weren't that big. Could be due to the lab or normal fluctuations.

namelessme,

No substantial change. I'm assuming I'd have to be eating a lot more of that stuff to raise the triglycerides so drastically.

My triglycerides had been around 200 several months ago. Then in Aug. they were 93. I'm wondering if those test results were mixed up with someone else's. Is that likely?

Anything is possible, but I'd guess against a lab mix-up. I've heard that triglycerides can vary a bit between tests, more than HDL and LDL usually do, although a 100+ point swing is quite a bit.

Did you use the same lab for your tests? And was your fasting period the same for both? If you happened to eat something before one of the tests, it would throw your values off.

Yes, I went to the same lab. And I was very careful about fasting. It's discouraging that I took the cod liver oil pills and Niacin religiously, and resisted the foods I shouldn't have eaten...and my numbers only got a lot worse.
