My son is graduating college next month and will be off our insurance. He will be going abroad for four months in August and needs health insurance. We have an option of choosing COBRA but that isi $300.00.!! I have tried Anthem(BC/BS) but they denied him becuase he takes Prozac (minimal dose, just one a day) for OCD which is not bad at all. It is not for depression and he only sees the doc once every three months for a precription. Does anyone know of any insurance companies that will insure him for a reasonable amount. This would only be temporary until he gets a full-time job in January.

I assume the coverage under COBRA is $300/MONTH.
That is not bad at all (well it IS, but it's better than MOST). My insurance (Oxford/$20 co-pay)for a single man is $600/month.
If I were he, I'd go with the COBRA for 7 months without too much thought. It comes with some government guaranteed protections that a new poicy might not have.
