From what I've read, it is supposed to go down for the most part, especially if you're getting good, sound sleep. However, if you are dreaming a lot, then you may be getting too much REM sleep. I've read the blood pressure increases during REM sleep.

It's supposed to go down about 10 points systolic on the average. Dr's are concerned that some patients don't have enough b/p coverage at night especially if their b/p don't go down. Soon a new monitor to measure b/p at night will be used to check that out. Fam
