MY BABY MICHAEL NOW 2 MOS OLD IS STILL IN THE NICU (INTENSIVE CARE UNIT). HE WAS BORN 32 WEEKS EARLY AND DOING WELL.
THE DOCTORS ARE ABOUT TO DISCHARGE HIM AND MY HUSBAND AND I CANNOT AFFORT NEOCATE. THIS IS THE ONLY FORMULA HE CAN TOLERATE.
MY INSURANCE COMPANY UNITED HEALTHCARE HAVE DENIED SEVERAL APPEALS TO PAY FOR THE FORMULA.
IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS ON WHERE I CAN GET NOECATE CHEAP OR IF YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY HAVE COVERED FOR THIS FORMULA, PLEASE REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE. MY FAMILY WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.

I had a child born at 24 weeks. Since he was a very premature baby, he qualified for SSI and therefore his medical expenses were covered by title 19. I had Wellmark Blue Cross as a primary insurance and then title 19 picked up the rest. You may want to look into it.

This may sound odd, but there are people selling it on ebay. The sellers to seem to have a good history and positive feedback from other buyers. They are probably dealers that choose to not maintain a storefront. It might be worth looking at.

Contact your local Shriners or similar organization to see if they can help you. Also find out who makes the formula and call the company headquarters. Explain the situation, ask for discounted rates or coupons. With a little luck maybe they will give you free formula as many a formula & diaper company does that for multibirths. Maybe they will do that for such a young preemie.

They have covered Neocate for at least one child I know of. If you need more info send me an email

My 1-year-old daughter Geneva is allergy to egg, cows milk, corn, peanuts (any tree nuts). Allergist prescribed her Neocate Junior.
I heard it is very expensive (I haven't bought it, just back from doc's office). I live in Northen California. Doc said California doesn't have the law to enforce insurance company to pay for it. I have Highmark Blue Cross & Blue Shield. There is a big battle ahead I think.
Anyone knows what insurance company in California will reimburse Neocate ?
Thanks a lot!

Is is cheaper to purchase it directly from the company? DS orginally was supposed have been on pregestimil (pre-digested forumla) and the dietician at the hospital gave us a case left over from a family whose daughter was switched to something else. She also indicated that the company who made the formula would ship it out for a lot less money than the pharmacy, she also did price checks for various stores in our area -- big box discount stores with pharmacies. Also, sometimes the formula companies have programs for people who are unable to afford it.
I know my sister was on WIC when her children were born. Maybe there are some programs through your county social service organization. another suggestion would be have an attorney write a letter to your insurance company indicating that it's in the child's best interest healthwise to be on the formula, otherwise there could be additional health problems (costs) which could lead to another hospitalization. We had to do that with the synagis shots for RSV.
