View Full Version : 3 year old with a lymphoma???

I don't usually get worried or concerned about health issues but I am a little worried this time. Quick history: I had Ovarian cancer while pregnant with my daughter at 22 and my sister in law had thyroid cancer last year at 28. My daughter has a few slightly smaller than marble sized bumps under her skin on the side of her neck. She is only 3 years old. There isn't any redness or tenderness. I am thinking that it might be a lymphoma but am still pretty worried. I know that a lyphoma doesn't have to mean cancer. I think I'll take her to the doctor on monday but what do you think? Is she too young to have a lymphoma? I guess I am just wondering what you guys think.

Thanks for any thoughts or opinions.

Suzy, do you mean a lipoma, which is a fatty, non-cancerous tumor? Lymphoma is cancer of the lymph tissue.

Has your daughter had an infection recently? Lymph nodes can swell and stay swollen for several weeks after an infection.

You should probably have this checked out by her pediatrician, just to be on the safe side and to set your mind at ease.

Hugs,

Lisa
