My mother suffers from high blood pressure on and off, the last two days in the late
afternoon her blood pressure readings have been 214/80. She has started to take iron tablets for the past two days, we are wondering is there a connection between the two as she has been stable for months.

Your mother should not be taking iron without a Dr's okay because she can get too much. She should have a blood test to show she needs it. Too much iron can cause a heart attack which is what may happen to people who naturally retain too much iron.

I don 't know if it can cause a increase in b/p. Fam

My mother had blood tests, and was prescribed iron so she went ahead and took iron tablets and also berocca she has had no incidents with her b/p in the past 5 months seems like a strange coincidence.

What is berroca? Is there another name for it? You need to call your Dr. tomorrow. There maybe an interaction between the two drugs. Under iron in my drug book, it says that high or low b/p is a side effect of taking iron in the IV form but I can't find a listing for oral iron. Fam
