So, My Husband And I Are In The Process Of Buying Our New (first) House. We Are In Contract And Should Close In Feb. So I Know What The House Looks Like And I Have Plenty Of Storage Room, Basement, Garage, And Attic...but I Still Obsess If We Have Enough Room For Everything...and Where What Will Go. Meanwhile I Know It Will All Work Out Ok But Still Obsess. I Do The Opposite Of Hoarding...i Like To Throw Out And Have Very Little Stuff. So I Am Going Thru My Apt. And Things We Don't Need Or Use, Throw Out But Also Trying To Throw Out Things That My Husband Wants, I Would Never Throw It Out But I Try To Convince Him, Lol...he Grew Up With His Mother Keeping Everything So He Is Like, Wow.. This Is Really Different....anyone Do That? Try To Throw Alot Out?

Purple-

Still worried about the new house huh? Well, I know it's a big change, and like I said before, I'd probably be the same way if I ever buy a house. You need to give yourself time because you know it's going to take awhile to sort through the old stuff, situate yourself in a new home, and buy things you need. Everything will come together, and you'll look back on this and chuckle to yourself and think, it wasn't that bad afterall.:D

Purple, DH and I are going through the exact same thing right now, only we are just currently bidding on a house, not under contract. But as soon as we put the offer in, I started doubting BIG TIME over if we'd made the right decision or not. Like the house isn't perfect, but can I live with it? What if it's not the right house, what if we should have looked at more houses, what if we move into it and I end up hating the house, what if one of us loses a job and we can't afford mortgage, etc.

Like you, if we get the house, I also feel that once we move in, I'll feel a lot better.

Unlike you, I DO hoard (though not to the extent of many OCD'ers), but the thought of moving all of our stuff makes me want to throw it all away! lol

Just tackle this like you do with all your other OCD fears - use your skills and stuff. Like when I start to worry about if we made the right choice (even though we haven't even bought the house yet!), I tell myself that if it's meant to be our house, we'll get the house...if it's not, we won't get the house.

Post-It,

I hear you!! I really do!!! Ya know, when we put a bid on the house, there were 2 other peope that put bids on the house and I was like oh forget it, we won't get it, and we did. I am really shocked b/c we were the last people to put the bid in and there were some counteroffers, etc...I really believe that this house is meant to be for us b/c we only looked for 2 weeks and so many things have just worked out. It is weird...but of course I still worry and obsess about the money, etc....

You are correct for both of us, if it is meant to be it will be. This is a huge step for us ocders...we are moving forward and not letting our OCD stop us... although we will still worry, we would worry about something else if it was not this anyway..so why not worry over a postive thing!!! LOL...

Good luck and keep me posted!!
