(I also put this on another topic b/c I wasn't sure where to put it)...
Ok, here is a question for you. I have done some juvederm to my lips back in March and again in July. I don't block b/c of a nerve cutting 7 years ago but doctors always are wanting to attempt it, it baffels them, resulting in sore jaw, etc but still no successful block, I end up doing the treatment without a block in the end.
We'll Thursday I decide I only want to put a little (.7cc) of Juvederm in 2 creases that have formed over the years and a little on my bottom border lip, Physician of course wants to try to block me with Lidocaine/epi combo. 5cc of that is injected into me. Result, only blocked on the top left side like usual. I ended up doing the treatment comando. We'll yes, I have major numbing of the lips, chin, up to the eys almost. It should go away and does over a few hours. I get home and ice a little, then lay there and watch a little tv. About 10 pm all the numbing has gone away except I can't feel my chin area..... I look in the mirror and I have watery blister like pockets all inside my lower gum line only. The swelling is starting to raise up to my lower eyelids too, so I do what I know is right and drive myself to the ER. It's amazing how quick you are seen when you say you think you can't breath... allergic reaction.
They end up putting an iv in me with Solumedrol for the inflamation, benedryl for the reaction, clintomycin for the antibiotic. Over a 2 hour time. I am finally let go at 1:30am and head to the pharmacy with diagnosis of facial adema and a script for 10 days worth of clintomycin, prednisone for 7 days, allegra during the day and benedryl at night and a pain med just in case.
Next morning, little better, the blisters are still there but going away, swelling isn't as bad.. As the day goes I get a little better and a little better, blisters completely go away.
This morning, wake up, I'm more swollen than when I went to the hospital. The swelling has reached my lower eyelids and looks like I have water under my fat pad area, you could poke it and it moves, chin completely swollen and the blisters are back 100%... Take my meds, then about 4 hours later, I'm back to normal.....
Is this going to keep happening every morning? Why did this happen? Did I develop a allergic reaction to the Epi? Or Lidocaine? Or what? I've done it before and didn't have a problem. Could if of been injected into my tissues by mistake?
