Hi,
I wonder if there is an interaction between Coffee and Effexor XR. I take my coffee after 1 hour of Effexor XR 75mg.
Thanks for help,
Michael

Hi,
I've been on Effexor XR for probably 7 years. I drink a LOT of coffee. I haven't noticed any weird interactions. Even though coffee is not advised, due to my anxiety/depression, it is one of the ONLY things that helps me to feel better.
Good luck finding any info you need.

Hi:
I never had an issue with the mix either. Heck I use to take my meds with coffee.
take care

Thanks for your response, I started to feel a little bit better. And the tirdness started to get disappear, it is one of the side effects of the medication. My dr didn't want to increase my dose to 150mg yet, he said 'not now'. I have been on it for about 22 days so far.
Thanks for help,
Michael

I know this post is a little old, but I take Effexor XR too and I am on 225 mg. I don't notice that it "interacts," but I have been told by numerous people that mixing caffeine and psychotropic medications reduces the efficacy of them by something like 50%.

Well I take coffee and paxil, and to be totally honest although I have had no known interactions, I don't think drinking coffee 'a lot' does you any favours. I recently cut down on my coffee intake and found myself feeling healthier than I did drinking it lots. I feel like my mind is clearer and less dehydrated.

Well, I drink coffee once daily. It's instant coffee with creamer and I like it so much, although it does effect my high BP. So do you think, or experienced effects, drinking only 1 cup of coffee while being on Effexor XR 150mg?
My dr just increased my dose from 75mg to 150mg after being one the 75mg for a month, I'm still having side effects but I think it's getting better day by day. As for the depression, I'm not seeing any difference and I may say that I'm more depressed because of the side effects.
I have contacted other people who are on Effexer XR and most of them told me that it takes at least 2 months to feel better, and the side effects like dizziness and tiredness will disappear as the body adjust to the medication.
Thanks for help,
Michael
