Hi, my name is Mike but most people just call me mac, I served with the 2/2ACR from Bamberg Germany. I notice there are not to many vets on the new website of healthboards. I just got my ssn: appoved for PTSD,fibromyilia, and other symtoms that came with our trip to the Persion Gulf. Haven't heard anything from the VA althought, however its been working for 2 years now and no dission has been made yet. I guess no news is good news. Well talk to ya later. mac

Welcome to the bb, Mike. Don't assume too much too quickly. The VA requires a great deal of response time. I have been doing this bit for many years now and still haven't been diagnosed with anything at all. With my situation the blame can't be placed on any psychological or such condition as it is evident in the blood. However, my comp claim has been sitting at the decision rating board for what this month marks as the 15th month, with the file dating back for the claim to March 14, 2000. The good news is that the bill was passed and extended through 2003 for veterans of the gulf war, with undiagnosed medical issues, to receive compensation. There is hope, and recent research has actally linked gulf war illness to a diagnosis for the first time. Now, it isn't a dx anyone would want as it is ALS and is fatal. However, to see an actual diagnosis as opposed to hearing it is all in our heads is a real bonus in a sense.

Make sure you work with a good Veterans Service officer.
They know the ins and out on claim. Some are good at what they do and others are not.

I just hope you have enough time in to qualify for disability. Have you checked with your Congressman lately? VA don't pay beans. I make more panhandling at the intersections of Dallas, TX than I'd ever acquire at the VA hospital south of the metroplex.
And, by the way, have you checked with a civilian doctor lately? Military and V.A. has a real bad habit of "losing" your medical records. You should develop a realationship with Kinko's: They'll be happy to copy your medical records without "losing" or "altering" them.

Yea they lost my military medical records and thats why I am still waiting. Never had to panhandle for a living but when I seen a VET who was homeless I would give him/her what I could, but you must be doing very well panhandling because you hav a computer. This is my 1st one because I couldn't afford one before and I worked paided my taxes and paid my ssn quarters.
