well for the past few days my almost 4 yr old has had a really bad cough, but last night she threw up everywhere (thick and black) and was shaking. she got up this morning and was really hot and threw up again so i took her to see my gp, he said she has a bad infection in her left lung. she's now on strong antibiotics but he said if she doesnt improve or keeps throwing up she will have to go into hospital. :(
it will be our little mans 1st christmas and we were all looking forward to it, im so hoping that she will get better with the antibiotics but i cant help but be upset for her health and that she might have to spend it in the hospital. its her birthday on jan 4th but she has to go into hospital on the 14th to have an echo done on a heart murmur they found at her 3 & 1/2 year check.
it just seems like one thing after another at the moment :(

so sorry you are having to deal with this.believe me,i know what its like to have a child who has had to undergo some pretty incredible medical issues very early on.i am just wondering what exactly that "black' emesis actually looked like?was it like coffee grounds(particulate)or was it more like just mucus without particles?this does make a big difference.what do her BMs and her urine color look like at this point?marcia

hey everyone, ty so much for your kind replys.
mia has been on the anti biotics since tuesday and is showing signs of improving, she's not being sick any more and she has so much more energy,
feelbad, her bm's are pretty normal, with her vomit dh was the one with her (i have a very weak stomach lol) but he says it was like black tar, but like i said shes not being sick anymore which is a good sign.
on another note, we had to take our 8 month old son to the dr on thursday as he has the same cough as her but he started wheezing all day, so of course i freaked out (again) the dr we saw was brilliant, it turns out that our son has bronchiolitis (different to bronchitis) he said that a few yr ago they would treat it with a nebuliser and hospital admission but research shows that the nebuliser wasnt that effective in someone so young, so we are to keep a careful eye on him and if he shows any signs of difficulty or he's not taking fluids that well HE may have to go in,,,
i swear they will know my kids on a first name basis by the time they reach their teens lol!
