Just a little rant.

Picked up the 24 hr heart monitor this morning, and I guess I should've found out what exactly that's like before I made my plans for today!!! What a HUGE pain in the ...butt!!! I got stickies all over my chest with tons of wires connected to them and a (much bigger than expected!) heart monitor strapped to my waist. Ugh!

I have to be careful not to touch any of the stickies, pull on the wires, no hugs or picking up the kitty, can't get any of this stuff wet (and it's raining!) and now it's starting to get kinda itchy... but of course I'm not allowed to scratch anything.

This thing is super uncomfortable, and I can't really do anything involving a whole lot of movement so... just sitting here while trying not to smush the stickies with the monitor. Had a bunch of plans for today too cause I'm otherwise feeling pretty damn good! GO FIGURE!

:(

(Oh yea, and I felt like an idiot walking into the store this morning with a bunch of different colored wires sticking out from under my shirt, 3 big round white stickies showing just below my neck, and a big black monitor hanging off my waist. :jester:)

that's funny. I wore one of those too, a couple years ago. i'm fine, but when i was wearing it, it made me nuts too. About one hour before I was going to return it to the doctor I snagged one of the wires on a kitchen drawer and pulled it right off my chest. Thank goodness I didn't have to do the whole thing again!

You'll have it off tomorrow. hang in there

Hah! I really hope nothing has happened or will happen that'll make me have to repeat the damn thing. I honestly thought it wouldn't be a big deal and I could just go on doing whatever I usually do. Not sure what I was thinking....

I'll be going over to my friend's later and drown my annoyance in really good red wine. :D

Why did they give you one?

Sipa why are you wearing that monitor? Are you having heart palpitations? (fast beat or extra beats?)

I had to do that once- it was the itchiness that killed me!!!!!!

Frodoh - the neurologist said my heart rate was a bit high.. ~110, should get it checked just in case.

Joni.. seriously. It started to itch about 5 hours into it. It's really hard not to scratch those damn things right off!

I have no idea how I'm going to manage to sleep tonight. I'm so worried about those things coming off and having to do it all over again. Gah!! But then I had a couple glasses of wine so maybe my subconscious will just take a break and go to sleep with me. :)

haha, yes I figured out who you are. ;)

Can't take a shower. I can "wash" but no getting it wet so it's not exactly the easiest endeavor. Fortunately it comes off soon, then I can take a shower. Woo! haha

I don't really think there's anything wrong with my heart. I do have a fast heart rate sometimes for no good reason. As in, some days I wake up in the morning and my heart rate will be hovering around 100. Lasts all day. Might be my thyroid too? Who knows.

2 more hours!

Sipa - 110 is a bit high. Are you saying that your heart rate is 110 while at home - say sitting on your couch while watching TV?

Or was it 110 at the doctors office.

I am a terrible nervous wreck when I see a doctor so my blood pressure and heart rate are always high at the dr office.

But, for example, sitting here writing this post at home while watching TV it's like 75-85 BPM

be well

haha *happydance* :D

Frodoh: it was 110 at the doctor's office, and yes, I was horribly nervous because I was going to get my MRI results. But I've occasionally had ~100 just sitting at home doing nothing. It was kinda on my list of things to mention to my GP but since the neuro brought it up and was willing to act on it immediately.. hey, I'm not gonna complain. :)
