I don't know how to control it but I do know that you are not alone. It happens to me also. I happen to work in a school, so at 3 the kids are gone and I have some time to catch up on paperwork. It is very hard because I don't have any energy and find myself hitting the candy machine for the chocolate to get a sugar and caffein (sp?) rush--otherwise the paperwork will be late getting in.

At night I can fall asleep in a chair. It is very difficult for me to wake up. Sometimes my eyes open but my body won't move for a few seconds. Even though I am aware of my surroundings, it is almost like a paralysis has set in. That is a very scary feeling.

i had that feeling of being paralized when i was younger. iknow exactly what you are talking about. its so scary. im guessing it has to do with being partly awake and partly asleep. sometimes i used to try to breathe deeper or heavier when it happens and that woke me up sometimes. but the naps are getting to me. i wish i could get some energy. its getting worse with age. thanks

Adrenal fatigue/adrenal exhaustion usually causes the energy dip around 3 to 4pm. It's also because blood sugar tends to dip around that time as well. So having a snack with both protein and carbohydrates just before that time can help. Something else which helps is Olive Leaf Extract (in liquid form) taken in the morning. It helps to improve energy levels & also sustain them through the day. I have been taking it for my chronic fatigue & it has helped a bit. I've also had relatives taking it & they've said it helps prevent that afternoon energy dip.

Also, an adrenal support formula containing liquorice and/or Siberian Ginseng can help (but you need to be careful with anything containing liquorice if you have high blood pressure). I've found this and the Olive Leaf Extract are the only 2 supplements that have helped with my energy levels and overall wellbeing.

I have recently been tested for narcolepsy, and in my research before having the test i have found out that one of the symptoms of narcolepsy is waking up and not being able to move right away. i dont know why it happens but that was one thing that rulled me out for the condition. another symptom was when you laugh...really laugh hard, your knees buckle. narcolepsy may also explain the naps and the loss of energy during the day. it may be something to look into.
hope that helps!!
