This year, I have talked to a lot of friends of mine who are experiencing wierd illnesses which mimic some of the symptoms of Gulf War syndroms, and yet they are not Gulf War vets. Is it possible that the Iraqis have a virus that causes this syndrome, and they gave it to the terrorists who attacked us on 9-11? I know this sounds paranoid, but if this did happen would the US government tell us?

First of all, I want to thank you for bringing to light my entire mission in what's become of my life. Gulf War Illness is NOT restricted to veterans who served over THERE. Gulf War Illness has been shared with all the families, friends, lovers and casual sex partners of the dying or dead Gulf War heroes of this nation.
Secondly, I want you to understand that what the Iraqis possess in the way of germ warfare -- bacteria, microbial infections, viruses, fungi and parasites is exactly what the U.S. and our "wannabe" U.S. allies sold to the Iraqis. The problems we have here in the U.S. are exactly due to what happened in the Persian Gulf and in the Iraq-Iran War during the preceding 8 years before Desert Storm (1981-1989).
The health problems we are experiencing in the U.S. today are directly related to airborne, blood-borne, and casual contact diseases infiltrating the U.S. today through veterans serving in the Gulf and serving stateside after March 1991.
In your government's eyes:
Our troops came back sick. But not THAT sick.
Our military equipment came back dirty with airborne bio-chem weapons. But not THAT dirty.
Our chemical alarms came back functioning very well over HERE, but apparently not well enough over THERE.
And our protective masks came back with the same breathing filters the Vietnam Vets used, since none of us were ever exposed to GAS in the Gulf or in our own headquarters here in the States.
My friend, our government will NEVER tell you the truth. And your friends are sick because the germs have had 11-plus years to spread through the air, through fabric and through casual contact, not just since 9-11-2001, but since 8-2-90 (and most likely years beyond).
The used camo-garments people buy to go hunting,
the used boots,
the second-hand protective masks,
the butterfly camo-covers and tents,
the kisses to returning sailors,
the Love-Making,
the shared bedsheets that are insufficiently laundered,
the bath towels that are shared but never chlorine-bleached,
the loving spoonfuls of brunch shared the morning after;
the unexpected exposure; and
the unexpected nausea ad nauseam.
You might want to search your website to reveal the REAL truth to you, because your government has sealed its knowledge.

Trippster, you hit the nail on the head! My wife and I are suffering a great deal from a illness that is very much like some Gulf War Syndrome illnesses. Unfortunatly for us,it appears to be the worst kind, possibly a muscloskelitol type of disorder. Our labor day flu/pnuemonia has manifested itself through the months into this, the muscle cramping & twitching has progressed to a horrible level. Now it seems that I'm staggering and stammering around like Ozzy but drunk. I've been on Baclofin since Jan. Most of these symptoms seem to come in waves. Lasts for a week or more, dies down, goes away until you feel halfway normal instead of the constant sick feeling, then "it" comes back harder than before.
Uncle! There, I said it. Now make it go away.
Like I said earlier, my wife and I! Both got the same flu, progressed the exact same symptoms through months, with two exceptions:
1. Her symptoms aren't as accute as my own. She having the very same symptoms as me, but I'm two weeks to a month ahead of her in getting them.
2. I have had partial seizures. Rt side limbs only. Started in Oct 01. 5 total. Getting more intense as they come.
What "it" is, we don't know.
But, we know how we got "it" and by whom. We know that without a shadow of a doubt!
All that I can tell you is, we had a close encounter of the pre 9/11 kind at our place of work in late Aug 2001. We cannot comment beyond that. Sorry.
Hi Beckie99. Good to see you again.
Take care all. If anyone else has had a simular experiance, post it. Tnx all, x-nitemops

Thanks you for your responses. Now that our government is talking about attacking Iraq soon, I am even more worried than I was before. I believe that our government is not telling us the entire reason that they wish to attack. Maybe they are attacking because the Iraqis have a bug that could wipe out much of mankind where they to release it. God, what a frightening world we live in,....and our government just continues to lie to us!

Continues to lie and quick to deny. You know, when we relized exactly what had happened, we reported it to the "appropriate authorities" on thier 800 number. The thing that they wanted to make clear was for us to "shut up and shut up now", and that's a quote folks!
They have not provided any aid, no medical, nothing. Heck, I got denied by Social Security.
Look guys, it wasn't any fault of ours. We just went to work. That's all. Like everyday before that. We didn't invite, bring or provoke this "guy" to be there or do what he did. "He" did stick out as strange and that's why we remembered "him". But last Aug, there was nothing wrong with being a pilot from Saudi Arabia. That all changed real quick, didn't it?!
Remember right after 9/11 when George W. told us, there will be things we know about, and things we won't. Guess what?!
On 9/8/1858 a man gave a speech in Clinton, Wis (I think. Not exactly sure of The state, but I believe it's Wis)in which he said, "You can fool all of the people some of the time and you can some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all of the people, all of the time!" That man was Abraham Lincoln.
Does that mean anything to all you people in Dc?
Do we? Or are we only casulities of war to you. True, on Aug 27th, we were sitting duck suckers just as we were on Sept 9, but we believe in our country, we will stand for our country, we will fall for our country! Hey all you Dc guys, one thing that all you forgot, we, the people, are our Country! God Bless America!

Just to let you know why I am being so paranoid about this whole issue. I live in Phoenix AZ. My sister, who lives in Portland OR, fell ill right before September 11th 2001. She was sick for about 2 1/2 months. She had flu like symptoms, and a weird rash, and was in a lot of pain. After visiting 5 doctors, nobody could find anything wrong with her. Eventually she recovered. When she became ill, we had not visited with each other in over a year, and yet I became ill with similar symptoms in October 2001. I was hospitalized with fever, and a rash on different parts of my body. The doctors tested me for everything, HIV, HEP etc. Everything came back negative, and I eventually recovered. I was retested for everything in may and again nothing was abnormal. During the past year since 9/11 I have heard similar stories of weird illnesses from friends of mine. This can not all be attributed to post 9/11 anxiety. That is just the BS that doctors are telling people because they don't know what this thing is. Or they have been told to shut up by our government. if anyone else has stories to share regarding weird illnesses this past year please post.

I've got another topic on Healthboards/ 9/11 questions and sympathies/ close encounters. We as many people last summer, from all over the east coast have had these "close encounters". Like us, maybe you have been told not to speak of "it". We where.
Look, the FBI makes James Woods the FBI man of the year, because he got vocal about his encounter. He got press, what happened to him was now out. He is so lucky! Yes Mr Woods, you sir can count your lucky stars!
We got sick and were told to shut up! We started out with our "labor day super flu", about 1 month the first neurological symptoms occured. This flu lasted 10 weeks my friends. Just undiscrible misery, pnuemonia, super excessive plegm, body aches, nausea.I don't even say the "A" word any more. We just call it "The Whabhi super flu". This illness has horrendously progressed over the months into what looks like a rapidly progressing form of ALS!! I am getting poor medical care from the local Health dept, only a check up every 3 months, My Baclofin perscription and mag-ox 400 samples. Thats all. They say that they do not have the resources to let me/us see a neurologist, even though in 11/01 my Dr. then said it was imperative that I see one Asap. When we got treatment for our flu (10/01), I get a standard 10 day perscription for Levaquin 500 and then I get 21 professional samples of levaquin 500 and am told to take them all and rest. When my then Dr asked what treatment my wife has gotten, she told him a Z-Pack. He said, that won't do anything and now my wife gets samples also. As terribly as we suffered, we mainly kept it a silent suffering. Figured that the good guys were on the ball, investigating, medically gonna take care of us, let us have disability ( I was too ill to work for 9 months). Besides an interview with the Terrism Taskforce nothing else has happened. I got all my medical records that I could get. I am missing tests and records. Blood tests, my metals urine test (the Dr explained the test to me before he did it) and records from when I was admitted in the hospital. They just aren't there! I've asked time and again at the records dept. They do not exist.
Like Mr Hatfill said about "A" exposure, (and I back him by the way. We know who did it) if you've been exposed to "it" you carry a marker in your blood! We'd like a test! I'd also like to know if there is anykind of tests for heavy metals exposure that would be able to detect from 1 year ago. I had purposly not had my hair cut since I suspected the possible exposure, but I did have it cut in Oct 01.
Does anyone know if methyl-mercury could be absorbed dermally? We all had silver paint on our rt hands after meeting "Mr wanna shake everybodies hands" that night on year ago.
If you saw these guys or you have had a simular occurance, post it.
I can understand not wanting to cry wolf in a tourist town, but a fact is a fact! Tonite we are returning to "the scene of the crime" for a celebration of life, reflection and to try to bury the ghosts of the past. We are going to light a soltary candle, for the victims of terrorism and silently reflect.
My wife both met him at our work place, a bar in Cocoa Bch, Fl, one year ago today, 8/27/01 between 12:30 and 2 am. You have no idea how very lucky we are here to see a year. There were numerous nights when my wife and I laid our heads down, said our prayers, and went to sleep not known if we were awaken the next morning!
Hope that our luck holds out. Sorry for the long post Tripp.

I am a Navy Veteran with Muscular Dystrophy, survived a bought with Leukemia and have a host of problems...
I also was exposed to many friends, family members and service personnel over a long period of time...
My wife came down with an autoimmune disease last year called Scleroderma and I have been looking into what causes it...
Doctors have no clue...sound familiar?
But I do...our government has been doing all sorts of BAD things around the globe in our names lately...Chem trails...providing Iraq and Afghanistan with biological and chemical agents to use against Iran and the Soviets when those countries were our allies...and in commercial interests like mining where bacteria is added to leaching ponds...huh...theobacillus ferro-oxidans is put into these ponds to leach out copper from the ore and then it is all passed through another pond with iron in it at which point the copper is released and the iron gets leached...it all ends up in the tailings where the wind picks it up and spreads it all over...
We also have the cute problem of certain insects which carry many of these new and exotic bioengineered bacteria and viruses...like west nile which constantly modifies itself as it crosses species...and then there are the seldom detected bugs called micoplasma...
Micoplasmas are rarely detected in normal blood analysis and they have the ability to penetrate the brain barrier and enter any cell in the body without damaging it...where it works with other bacteria such as the theobacillus ferro-oxidans...one breaks down the cell's nutrients and the other leaches out what it needs and triggers the immune system to produce a reaction so it has a steady supply of what it needs...
In my wife's case...Scleroderma...that means if my theory's correct she should experience a depletion of iron, show autoimmune responses which are out of control and have an accelerated deterioration of her ability to function...
Yes, to it all...the disease is considered to be fatal with no treatment or cure...it turns the body into stone and is very painful...this happens because the immune system is tricked into producing too much collagen which is normally used for scaring tissue or to help keep cells pliable...but unchecked it engorges all of the body's cells and eventually hardens...
I got busy and found some similarities with symptoms which many veterans were experiencing and discovered a little used anti-biotic which has a wide range of uses and can also penetrate the brain barrier...
Minocycline...
I got the doctor to put my wife on it and she now can dress herself, wash herself and move around some...and she says the pain is easing up...a long way from being bed ridden just a couple of months ago...
I told some of my relatives and friends who were in the gulf and had all sorts of problems...to their surprise after a short time using the Minocycline...many are seeing a return to normal health...albeit slowly, but that's better than not at all...
So depending on what insects bit you...what germs or virus you were exposed to...if you inhaled any depleted uranium or burning oil fumes...the combination will determine what your symptoms will be...
Find out if you are iron deficient...get tested for the presence of micoplasmas...and see if there are any heavy metals in your system...
If yes to any of this get on Minocycline 250mg twice a day...skip every third day and take chromium picolinate to help eliminate heavy metals...
Good luck!

This is scary, my son has been in the air force for a little over 3 yrs.
I know what you are talking about with the chemtrail too. We see it all the time around here, I've heard of this for the last five years now. Art Bell was talking about it long before we even saw the planes making X's in the sky that turn into big misty looking clouds. It's an everday occurance now.

Wow, who would've ever have known, our own Government could put you vets at such secondary risk for thier own secrets. Shame, shame.
I was told in Nov 2001, that people with pasts should'nt make waves. But now it's more like, people with no future have nothing to fear! Exactly 1 year and 1 day after our encounter with Marwan Al-Shehhi at our place of work, a bar in Cocoa Beach, Fl, I was diagnosed with "motor neuron degeneration". It is ALS.
I've suspected ALS since Dec because of the symptoms and thier progression. But 1 yr and a day, you what that does to our legal rights? We've told and told them (FBI and Brevard County Health Dept) and no one wanted to hear what we were saying. Now we are going to get my wife diagnosed. From what I've learned ALS is a bad gene that happens randomly, is not communicalable and only "hits" family members who are blood related. Never 1 case of husband and wife! Well how 'bout that, we get to make medical history!
People beware! I'm am not chicken little, and the sky is falling! Those murderous hijackers just did'nt start on 9/11, they were on a mission in the weeks before. My shut up order, don't speak about it, it's an on going investigation, is out the door. I'm dying to tell. And I will not stop speaking of it until the day when I stop being able to speak!
If you saw any of these "guys" in the weeks before 9/11/2001 and you have been ill ever since, guess what! Anyone else have "silver paint" on thier hands after shaking hands with these "guys"? Anyone find a item that may be suspect. We did! But that we won't discuss, yet. If anyone did have an "encounter" post it. Thx all, x-nitemops Cape Canaveral, Fl

In the first week of Dec, I'll finally get a EMG in both arms and my rt leg. My symptoms are still getting stronger. The twitches are bigger (whole limbs effected), the cramps worse and almost constant, stumbling and staggering. My wife the same except her twitches seem to be slowing. She keeps falling and injuring herself. I'm only 38 and she's 42.
Look, we both had pnuemonia at the very same time in sept and oct 2001, we both developed twitches and the other horrible symptoms of this "whatever it is" at the same time. We first got sick two days after meeting "that guy".
Why won't someone connect the dots? How many "others" are there just like us. We can't be the only ones!

My son is an offspring of the Persian Gulf War..he was conceived about 3 months after his father returned. he is showing signs of severe depression, suicide and homicidal thoughts. Drs cant seem to figure out what his diagnoses is, he has been treated for ADHD, OCD, BiPolar, and several more but nothing is working. Can anyone tell me if Mental illness signs can have something to do with gulf war syndrome. He was born 2 months early and nearly lost him 2 months prior to that. I was diagnosed with Preeclampsia during my pregnancy. I hope someone out there might have some kind of information they would like to share.

In my experience, unfortunately, all of you are correct in your assessment that the stuff blown in from the Gulf War is making you and your children sick.
I cannot attest to terrorist infiltration and contamination other than to say that I was a child of a base contractor. And I know firsthand what we taught those Middle Easterners and allies.
The Mycoplasma that was spoken about in prior messages on this board causes all of the symptoms each of you speak of when untreated. It prays upon people who did not have excellent eating and exercise habits before contamination and infection. Mycoplasma (microbial infections that should not be confused with bacterial infections) seep into the major organs of the body and damage the Central Nervous System almost beyond repair.
Mycoplasma in women may first act like ordinary urinary tract infections, respiratory infections and sinus infections, then hormonal imbalances. But, eventually, it causes nerve damage, auto-immune system problems like Schleroderma and Lupus and ALS (or Lou Gehrig's Disease). Gone untreated, it causes jerks in the muscles and extremities. Then, it slowly progresses into paralysis. Then, it advances into major arrest of the lungs, heart, circulatory system, digestive system, Central Nervous System. And death occurs very painfully and very slowly.
I know, because I experienced the phases up to paralysis. The answer is antibiotics. MEGA-doses of any antibiotic you can get your hands on. If you don't stop the infection, you'll not be able to stop the advanced stages of the stuff. This pathogen was tried as a vaccine and FAILED. It was patented by the U.S. Patents and Trademarks Office as nothing but a pathogen (manmade disease) in 1989, just prior to the Gulf War. And it was tested, manufactured and distributed nowhere else but Texas, first.
You must understand that fathers can pass the horrible stuff on to wives and children. And you must understand that all soldiers and Marines were exposed to all sorts of stuff that damaged themselves only. That could be metals, chemical exposures, environmental factors and immediate effects of vaccines.
But some of those exposures are blood-borne and easily passable to family members.
ALWAYS look toward antibiotics and antivirals first. If you can't get past this destructive illness that way, then you need to visit an environmental toxic exposure doctor as quickly as you can. Then check out the websites of the following attorneys to determine the source of your toxic exposure:
Baron & Budd, P.C., Dallas, TX
Waters & Krause, Dallas, TX
I have a website to a third attorney who successfully has pursued a contaminated vaccines case in California. But his experience is limited to California. And his client served in the Gulf War as a service member of the Air Force. His exposure was vaccines, not contamination.

This post managed to frighten me pretty well. My father is a Gulf War veteran. He returned when my sister was barely one and I was five. That seems so long ago. Since then I've watched him deteriorate in health. He suffers so many problems, has been to so many doctors, been on so much medicine, and they still "have no clue what it is." A couple of years ago my mom started getting kinda sick too. Stuff that I've seen him go through, I am now seeing her go through it as well. It's really hard to watch. I really don't know what the point of my posting this is, but I just felt the need to throw in my two cents.

Emofairy,
Have your dad tested for mycoplasmas. Find a good internal medicine doc.
If your mom is getting sick, he could be passing it to her. He needs antiobiotics and not just the oral ones.
Good luck to you, I will keep you in my prayers.
Trooper
Tip: Dr. Garth Nicolson. Has a lab in CA. It is expensive, but they can test for the mycoplasmas - all the different strands too. I wish you the best.

Gee, this stuff about the microplasma is really scary. My husband was not at the Gulf, but did work at Armtec Defense in 1994 they are contracted through the Gov. and they supply the Gov. with their ammo. We believe he was exposed to chemicles there, he made 120mm shell casings that were shipped to the Gulf. Any way he's been sick ever since over 10 years now and he'll be 30 yrs. old Jan. 28. It's weird because he'll seem to be fine then all of a sudden our girls will get sick or a friend of ours but not him nor me. we were wondering if this would be happening because of him. He sometimes lets out this odor from his mouth then a coulple days later somone in our house is sick or someone that had been to our house during that time will be sick. just curious if anyone has similatrities thanks.

I have never been to the Gulf and my husband was out of the army about 6 months before the war started. At the time I lived in a very small town in GA. I went to a cousins retirement party that he had at the officers club after he returned from the Gulf....after that time I spent with him there I started to get ill like flu symptoms and loss of short term memory, plus many other symptoms...I was lucky to find a doctor and he got down to the nitty gritty and find I contracted GWV...well my cousin does not have it, but his brother who also was there at the Gulf, but not the party has it...the doctor said that it is contagious in many different ways and symptoms and illnesses appear deifferently in each person....mine has caused stomach lining problems....anyway he said that most likely my cousin can be just a carrier and not affect him or it was all around there on the base...so since then I have Gulf War and Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome...my mycroplasmas are severely damaged....I hope that helps some people...oh my other cousin this has affected his feet...sad thing is he is back over there again....

Sorry to hear your distress. Have you gotten in touch with Dr. Nicolson? There are numerous different strands of mycoplasmas and his lab will test for all of them.

Trooper,
Please advise as to how I would get ahold of him. I would appreciate any information you can give me. Do you know how to use smoke signals to get that information to me, because I think that would be advertising for him if you posted it here, and since I'm not allowed the freedom to post my own email address I'm not really sure how you and I can communicate that information. Do you know, if so, please inform me.
Thanks so much, Trooper...Your name fits you well...you're a real trooper. ;-)

Look into the Institute for Molecular Medicine in Huntington Beach, California. ...
Or you can do a search on the web for Dr. Garth Nicolson.
I hope they don't consider this free advertising. He's a medical doctor that deals with mycoplasmas. He'll be able to work with you on the tests that you need. Unfortunately I believe they are a little expensive if your insurance doesn't cover it.
Also, if you do a search on the web for mycoplasmas, you'll see his work and name all over the place. Along with really good mycoplasmas information.
Good luck to you, let us know how you are doing,

Because of a snafu my EMG was cancelled. Instead a series of blood tests were given, another EEG and another MRI of my brain. There were a few flags on the blood work, normal EEG and a questional MRI.
My symptoms have worsened, but luckily I now have a very good neurologist. What I thought were balance issues, we explained to me (by neurologist) as not balance issues at all, but signals from my brain are not getting to the proper muscles in my limbs. My rt hand curled about 9 months ago and has stayed. Now my toes on my rt foot are following suit. I have now been placed in a wheelchair by my neurologist, to "maintain safety".
The twitches (fasciculations) are running rampant along with major muscle pains (cramps). The fatigue is costant and major. My wifes symptoms have finally stopped increasing, but are still very alarming; while my own, have increased terribly.
Things ruled out so far are, Lyme disease, Lupas, MS, brain tumors, syphillis, HIV, mental illness and anxiety.
Neuro doc does not believe that "it" is ALS aka lou gerhigs disease (thank God). A blood test for inorganic mercury was drawn in 01/02 and results showed none detected. The only thing that I have been diagnosed with is: "Unknown neurological disease" 07/03
If I could afford the test by Dr Nicholson, I would. Any input on any ideas of this illness would be welcomed, thanks.

I have read that the symptoms of Gulf War Syndrome are the same as aspartame poisoning. The symptoms are the documented by the FDA. Aspartame is the artifical sweetner that is in sodas. Nutra-Sweet, Equal, ect... It is felt that since the soda was sitting in the desert at very high temperatures the soda became more toxic (after a certain temp over 80 something, it turns into formaldehyde (sp)).
I am not saying either way if this is or isn't what GWS is, but I would do a search on Aspartame and see if your symptoms compare.
I'm soooooooo sorry to read all of the sad stories posted here. I was in the USAF from 81-85 and my heart goes out to all of you.

It has been a very hard 3 years so far for myself and my family. This "illness" has not yet been identified. I've seen 3 different neuro docs with 3 different hypothisis on what it is.
1. ALS or look alike disease
2. Complications from west nile encephilitus (please overlook my terrible spelling errors)
3. Neurological illness from the horrible flu that I had
The coincidence that myself and my co-workers had an encounter with one of the lead 9/11 hijackers 36 hours before we all got the "flu" has been downplayed by most in the medical profession. Oddly enough, I had the most contact with this person and I became the most ill out of all my co-workers. I know that I had gotten right upset and maybe tried to brow beat a little to strong about what happened to us and how we were treated. Sorry 'bout that, I was trying to inform people and find others who had a simular "encounter" and subsequent illness.
As of now, I take 2400 mg's neurontin daily and I am still able to walk and use my limbs fairly well. The syptoms still overpower the meds somedays but I've got to keep on keeping on. Like I said before, what occured and what was found that night (08/26-27/01) I cannot specifically give details, but there is no doubt at all that it was a covert intentional exposure that made me, my wife and the rest of my co-workers ill.
I will stay fighting this illness and maintain my health to the best of my ablility. I thank all of you vets who served, sacrifised and continue to suffer from this/these unknown illness. Thank you all. Stephen

I just want to share, as I have before, that many people are at risk for the same harm as the gulf war vets.
There is a common cleaning, degreaser product that does all of the symptoms, but first thing it does is produce too many immature red blood cells (from immune system prematurely destroying red blood cells?)
I believe all those with 'gulf war syndrome' can find the blood damage (the unsuspected cause of fatigue) with the following test:
Ask your doctor to do the Elevated absolute reticulocyte count To determine if red blood cells are being created in the bone marrow at an appropriate rate.
A special stain can be used to identify reticulocytes, because they contain remnants of RNA. Fully mature red blood cells are terminally-differentiated cells lacking nuclei and nucleic acids. The number of reticulocytes in the blood is proportional to their rate of synthesis and release by the bone marrow. The body will respond to bleeding or hemolytic anemia (breakdown of red blood cells) by an increased rate of red blood cell synthesis under normal circumstances. It's only about a $50 add on blood test, but while you're at it get the differencials with the CBC and redo the WBC by microscope if this test is showing too many immature red blood cells are being formed
Also when there are too many immature red blood cells being formed, the liver count goes up; but when the liver is damaged, the liver counts go down
Thus, these tests cancel out each other, & you look ok in both, when the opposite is true, etc. etc
This is a discovery that is provable. Once those with previously undiagnosed fatigue ... and multiple odd symptoms know the results of this test. The absolute reticulocyte count should be part of a standard test for all those with hard to diagnose fatigue
So, to reiterate: There is a common cleaning degreaser chemical, 2-butoxyethanol, that causes premature destruction of one's own red blood cells, findable after 2.5 days of exposure, and it does not go away, no matter how many other symptoms of harm pile on top of it. It is missed by doctors, because when too many immature red blood cells are formed, the other tests look OK, and many times, they have to be 'adjusted' for this condition.
For more info search the internet and also check Yahoo under hemolytic anemia (this will be compensated hemolytic anemia to start with - fooling the medical profession for well over 50 years)

Everyone here where I live thinks I am a nut and wants to lock me up for haveing gulf war illness. It isn't my fault that I am sick and I didn't do it. Who is the government trying to protect? that is so important?? We are hurting and someone up the latter cares more about there reputation than us being sick and in pain every day! I am mad  Us being treated like we are criminals when we aren't... Try to speak out-- and gulf war illness sufferers are are the bad guys... :nono: When will we be able to get out of this grey area? Look at this though that I found on the web:
Compensation Eligibility Amendment
Public Law 107-103, signed into law on December 27, 2002, amended compensation eligibility to include those who suffer from medically unexplained chronic multisymptom illnesses that is defined by a cluster of signs or Symptoms, such as chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and irritable bowel syndrome. It also includes any diagnosed illness that the Secretary determines warrants a presumption of service-connection in the future.
Other symptoms on the presumptive list for undiagnosed illnesses include fatigue, symptoms involving the skin, headache, muscle and joint pains, neurologic symptoms, neuropsychological signs, respiratory problems, sleep disturbances, gastrointestinal signs, cardiovascular symptoms, abnormal weight loss, and menstrual disorders.
VA and DOD Resources:

Local VA Office: 1-800-827-1000
To Clinical Evaluation: 1-800-796-9699
To Report Suspicious Incidents: 1-800-497-6261
This is interesting data! but it is impossible to get them to talk to you about the gulf war illness. They add a spin of there own which leads to "Red Tape"!!!

They realize something is really wrong, and I'm glad they left the door open to other diagnosis, as they are legion
Keep hanging in there.
Please read a post I shared on headaches. They are horrible piercing headaches - not a normal migraine. I sometimes wonder if they might be pituitary or central nervous system effect or some type of headache other than people expect
You need to get the federal govt to add exposure to 2-butoxyethanol and ethylene oxide as disability exposures. I'm not sure what all ethylene oxide does except nearly cause you to die from 'pulmonary edema' but the 2-butoxyethanol all by itself causes all the 'gulf war syndrome' symptoms AND gulf war vets were exposed to this, it's in the Feb/2003 list of pesticides and solvents the troops were exposed to; but guess what? it has not been studied by the VA ...

The sleep apnea has almost killed me at least 200 times or more. I almost died in the Army hospital from a Mycoplasma Infection is what they called it but the apnea has almost killed me also! I am lucky to be alive really... However, I can see why other veterans are killing themselves because no one believes them or me for that matter. I wish the hospital would have just let me die because I suffer more now than ever. They had to stop what was suppose to be and now I am deathly ill as a result. Why am I still alive for? I suppose all of that running in cross-country 3 miles a day in High School is what has stopped me from dying? If someone doesn't help me in some way I don't know how much more I can take of this. One veteran I talked to said a lot of veterans are rottening from the inside out. I know something isn't right and I am in pain as a result. Maybe it is from "vaccine damage"? The thing that makes this so frusterating is that no one knows what is hurting us. I can tell you one thing, it isn't Psychological in nature but this illness does include some psychological factors-- This is a physical problem that directly resulted from the inoculations. How do I know this? Because I fell ill 3 days after receiving my anthrax and other vaccines that it how... Everyone is looking at other factors and some other factors exist like burning firewells and other ammuntion dump explosions where the soldiers were exposed to "added on" illness and symptoms, but the root of the problems being suffered is the inoculations we were ordered to have to get. I'm 95% sure of this and there could be other things involved also... Something needs to rectified to help all of us soldiers that are sick and that have so many problems-- Physical problems and some mental health issues now...

It is hard to talk to the gulf war vets about one chemical exposure that causes all of their symptoms, that is on the list of exposures & which .... oddly enough ... has not been studied.
& because you have your mind made up, you are not open to another, very simple cause. One lady shared with me that the gulf war vets didn't like the idea that I put forth ... that 2-butoxyethanol poisoning is the cause of gulf war syndrome ... because it diminishes the efforts of the combat soldier; but then, there were those with the 'symptoms' that weren't even deployed, so for those, they have to go after the shots
Give me a break
I understand everything you share. Yes, there are psychological effects from this chemical: the central nervous system damage alone causes sleep problems, suicidal tendencies, difficulty concentrating, short term memory loss and antagonistic, irritable personality changes.
If all with the 'gulf war syndrome' symptoms show too high a ratio for immature red blood cells (elevated absolute 'retic' ratio) that proves my point. The fatigue underlies all other symptoms that pile on top.
More info in my other posts and on the internet

I never deployed over to the gulf because something happened to me while on active duty. I was doing my job when I fell ill 3 days after our inoculations that we were ordered to have to get. If you refuse they'll give you a dishonorable discharge and fine you 1/2 month salary with article 15; I didn't have a choice in the matter unless I wanted to bring shame to my self and family... I am looking right now into Ricin poisoning and am waiting for some info to come back; I have been researching this for quite some time and am looking at all aspects to this "Weird Illness". I never deployed because I was hit so hard that now my body is trashed. Hell, I'm thinking about looking up that doctor that can cut your head off and put it on a new body because my body is so ****'d up!!! You can get auto parts for your car so why not a new body??? and you say "Give me a break..."; us soldiers are so ****'d up that no one truly understands... I am looking at alternatives-- should anything come available! This mysterious illness will rob you of your life-- if not kill you first. The military wouldn't tell me what I have got so I don't really know?? A recruiter I talked to told me "Your not healthy..." But no one will tell me what is wrong with me. Personally I believe that we were poisoned by terrorists, but who can tell for sure? My body is also numb from training so hard that I can't feel anything in my body very well at all also... I suppose it is part of being a soldier-- no feelings...

I'm not putting you down.
I think I do understand
Anything here match your symtpoms?

I've looked into the symptoms the gulf war vets have and recognized them after studying only one chemical: 2-butoxyethanol. I said, "I recognize these symptoms!" This was the chemical of harm to those who came into contact with the Inipol EAP 22 and Corexit of the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup, 1989, 1990 summers
So, I didn't have a lot of choices.
I've looked into organophosphates as a cause which is one put forth also ... 33 ailments; however, there are many holes in that theory that are a 'match' for 2-butoxyethanol poisoning
Do you know what your 'retic ratio' is?
Has anyone ever said that you have too many immature red blood cells? (a cause of fatigue from this chemical, at least)

There are so many possibilities that it could be... being in the Armed services, it could be any of a number of things; Low level exposure to toxins, chemical warfare, genetic warfare-- (Bio-chemical), biological warfare, Nerve agents, and things that we just can't comprehend... those solvents can cause those problems that you said so this could be one factor, but is only one factor of many factors. There is also adjuvant desease also which was in the anthrax vaccine which is illegal to inject in humans which they did to us without our consent or knowledge. I saw some strange things in the service like people coughing up flourescent green balls out of there throats, etc. A lot of them! The whole ground was coverd in this stuff! It was horrible to see this stuff especially coming out of me. Anthrax severe adverse reactions can cause the gulf war illness also. I read the anthrax label by Bioport Corporation and it shows all of my symptoms on the adverse event label!!! This is what I am leaning towards as a possibility because it includes things not found elsewhere. I told my doctor I thought I had a severe adverse reaction to the Anthrax vaccine and he diagnosed me with CFS! But I have tender points in my knees and joints which would also be Fibromyalgia Syndrome and MCS-- Multi-chemical sensitivities syndrome. Source: The Merck Manual of Medical Information. Second Home Edition. Pg.1718~1719 It is a disease of unknown cause and it is poorly understood... Where this illness came from is a mystery and no one knows. Some soldiers don't handle weapons and gun cleaning solutions but have gulf war illness! I was hospitalized for 7 days and ended up with gulf war illness. I didn't do much at all, I worked in administration most of the time answering telephones... Terrorists may be to blame for this illness or it could even be american made because the soldiers got attacked from both sides not just Iraq! The soldiers got caught in the middle of big business and Iraq! The U.S. was doing business with Sadaam Hussein so us soldiers were the bad guys apparently!

My doctor never told me anything at all about the retic ratio if they did this?? The lab that took my blood sample told me that I have to go to the doctor to obtain my blood results and he is gone now so I can't get them at all so I don't know what any of my stuff is right now. I plan on going to the lab tomorrow to try and obtain a copy of my analysis that will show what is going on, but with corruption far reaching in the medical system that is very apparent to me, I am not sure that I can even get the "real" analysis?? They may give me a fake copy of a normal persons data? I was given zantack for a gulf war illness attack when I went to the hospital so I wouldn't be surprised what they would alter. I told them I had severe abdominal pain which is new, I've never had that pain there before in a GWI attack? It is usually chest pain attacks or some other headache attack or something else like kidneys or joint pains, etc. I was even told to stop faking it by the E.R. Nurse! They just don't understand that it is pain signals-- and nothing show up on the monitor... I mean nothing! They just aren't using the right equipment to detect this weird illness! That is my take on it. :(

Most likely they didn't do a 'retic ratio' but you have a right to have a copy of your medical records. Just call the doctor's office and ask the nurse to mail you a copy.
Yes, the doctors with a CFS diagnosis are saying that they don't know the cause of the fatigue.
I am saying, based on the study of 2-butoxyethanol, and talking to many people affected by it, that your group is a 'match' for this chemical's harm
and
now I believe that this is the fatigue that has been eluding doctors; and that it is a fatigue that is findable
Just thought I would add the 'short list' put forth by the American Legion for 'Gulf War Syndrome symptoms'
Symptoms of Gulf War Illnesses (according to the American Legion)
Chronic Fatigue
Signs and symptoms involving skin (including skin rashes and unusual hair loss)
Headache
Muscle pain
Neurological signs or symptoms (nervous system disorders which could manifest themselves in numbness in one's arms or legs, for instance)
Neuropsychological signs or symptoms (including memory loss)
Signs or symptoms involving upper or lower respiratory system
Sleep disturbances
Gastrointestinal signs or symptoms (including recurrent diarrhea and constipation)
Cardiovascular signs or symptoms
Menstrual disorders
Of course, the list is longer, but these are the 'symptoms' I recognised.
They also shared these comments, "Veterans have reported a variety of symptoms, such as cognitive difficulties, trouble sleeping, loss of balance, numbness in the hands and feet, and joint and muscle pain. As of yet, researchers have been unable to pin down a cause for this mysterious illness, commonly referred to as the Gulf War Syndrome." 10-6-97
Do you know that I have talked to some doctors that don't think there is any such thing as gulf war syndrome. That's surely not true. But how much help can you get from a doctor who doesn't believe there is such a thing? Point is, doctors don't expect so many things to be going wrong at the same time.... & most probably all caused by one type of chemical exposure (& did you know that few doctors do any study in the area of chemical poisoning? Their MD training doesn't include any from what I've been told)

Well, I only consider myself a concerned citizen; however, another gulf war vet who shared with me, Chad Pagel of Indiana, said he wanted to put me as 'researcher' on his web site. He said he looked up the defition and I qualified. However, the site went down a couple of times and unfortunately is not active at this time.
I have a standard teaching degree from Washington State and have kept it current through Alaska guidelines. So, I suppose in college they teach you how to learn. And I am interested in learning about a chemical that was of harm to the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup workers (Someone in my family was harmed) ... and as it turns out, most probably your group and many, many more.
Just let me share with you what Chad shared with me. He said he had leathery skin on his upper thighs that no dermatalogist could help. I asked him if he ever sat anything on his lap that might have spilled? He said when he cleaned his weapon, there were no tables to do so on; there was sand all around; so he put the cleaning rag on his lap. I had already been told by someone that the troops clean their weapons daily with a product which contains 2-butoxyethanol. So this would be one source of exposure for some of our soldiers. You will often notice on products containing 2-butoxyethanol that it says, 'causes defated skin' (meaning that it kills fat cells, most likely) You also see directions for repeated use: wear chemical goggles; chemical gloves; wash eyes for 15 minutes each if you get any in your eyes; don't eat or smoke near product; don't get in the water or reuse containers .... such things as that
Anyway, someone shared with me one time that if you spend one hour a day learning about a topic of your choice, you can become an expert at it ... I've spend 5-6 hours a day every day for 2 years now, so I suppose I know a little bit about what 2-butoxyethanol does, not only from what is written, but since the literature doesn't have a great deal on what happened to the PEOPLE of the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup, I've learned a lot from them & others, too

It has been a very hard 3 years so far for myself and my family. This "illness" has not yet been identified. I've seen 3 different neuro docs with 3 different hypothisis on what it is.
1. ALS or look alike disease
2. Complications from west nile encephilitus
Like I said before, what occured and what was found that night (08/26-27/01) to the best of my ablility.
I thank all of you vets who served, sacrificed and continue to suffer from this/these unknown illness. Thank you all. Stephen You can get exposed to the solvent/pesticide/poison I share about ... from the breath of anther and flu like symptoms go along with that. Did you have burning eyes? ... dark urine, too?
You can rule this chemical exposure in or out based on the following cause of fatigue: the absolute reticulocyte count ('retic ratio') Do you have too many immature red blood cells? What are the size and shape of your red blood cells?
People can usually pin point the very day of too much exposure
I notice on #25 post, this thread, you comment, "There were a few flags on the blood work,
normal EEG and a questional MRI.
What 'flags' in the blood work? What day did the fatigue start? (The same day as the encounter with a stranger?)

I had a very weird recollection of that 50 gallon drum that was leaking so much fluid "I think it was clear?" and was on the cement floor. I was told not to worry about it that it was nothing. Well he left for a minute and I was standing there and decided to look at the barrel safety sheet and I noticed and recently just remembered what it said on it. I think it said Level 5 on it and I remembered that I worked at a chemical company and Level 5 is the worst level there is... Man, what the heck was I exposed to? I don't remember very much more than that but I do remember that I asked myself why would they need such a high level chemical like that in the arms room?? also that same day, a tarp was pulled off of some stuff and this powder and dust sprayed all over the four of us. This all happened right before I fell ill. However, I was given the inoculations right within the same time frame so I am not sure which one did this to me? It is between chemicals exposure, Unknown powder exposure, and vaccines. I believe that the vaccines had a lot to do with my major illness and problems but I have on top of that many other problems that could point to the other problem areas?? :(

I am dating a Marine that served in Desert Storm, and he has asked me questions about my health since we have been together, a year and a half now. Questions that concerned him has greatly gotten my attention now. And now that I think about it, the things he has asked me are things that I am seeing. The burning when I go to the bathroom, memory loss more than the norm, headaches that come on strong and are very intense and sharp, rashes on various parts of the body, and more stuff than I really care to think about that could be related to the exposure in the Gulf War. He has always been very physically active, and coordinated, now he is very clumsy, and fatigued all the time. I ahve also seen fits of rage that came from no where, and many sleepless nights. There is so much that has happened to him since he went there and came back. He is not even the same man as he was before he went to war. I think it is a sad situation that we cannot find answers to our questions. He has gotten to the point now where he is afraid to ask...afraid of what he just might stumble upon, and now I am also afraid as well because of the symptoms I have been suffering. I love this Marine as I know there are many in the same situation out there. I would like some answers and some help to get him and I the proper treatment if there is such a thing for whatever it is that is causing all of these unneccesary ailments that he and I are going through. Mainly him, because he was the one that was immediately affected, and the one who is in the worse shape. His memory is fading fast...I do NOT want to see him fade too. Please, if there is anyone who can lead us in the right direction, write in this forum so that if there are others, and I'm sure there are, they can get help too. Many thanks...zbaby & Dallton
