I have been suffering from mild to debilitating migraines since my early teens I am now 34. Over the last 5 or 6 years I have had other strange symptoms occur. I have had numbness and/or tingling on either side of my scalp that lasts from a couple of hours to a day or two. Most recently (about a week ago) I was laying on the couch when I heard a loud bang in my head and my head jerked back. Immediately following I felt like cold water was being slowly pumped into the back of my head between my scalp and skull. I noticed that I had a hard time focusing or concentrating for most of that day. Anyone have a clue as to what this could be?

Have you been being treated by a neurologist at all during the time you have been experiencing the migranes?what are you taking for them when they occur?have they ever done an MRI on your brain at anytime?if not,i would highly suggest you at least seek out an initial eval with your primary who then can send you for one.there could be any number of things going on up there that you just don't know even exists if it has never actually been scanned.it does sound like 'something' occured within your brain that is affecting at least some of your cranial nerves surrounding the head,or even the arterial structures.both can cause some really strange sensationswhen they are being affected in some way.also, just so you know, people who have suffered from lifelong migranes(i am also one) have a bit higher risk of vascular "events" occuring than the average population.its the constant constriction and over dialation thing.it should just be evaluated soon.an MRI/MRA woud really be ideal for finding any possible vascular issue and looking at the soft tissue structures too.or even just obtaining the MRI with a contrasting agent would be good for now.but you really DO need to get a good look in the brain area.good luck to you and hopefully this isn;t anything overly serious, but your symptoms do need to be looked into much deeper.please keep me posted.Marcia
