I'm scheduled for an isotope heart stress test where they inject you with radioactive stuff. and take pictures then a treadmill I heard this is dangerous, so don't know if I'll do it. Has anyone had this test. EKG's are fine. I'm 64 yr. old female. and what is a pharmological stress test?

There is very little to be concerned about with this test. It is a standard diagnostic test for someone your age, and especially if you have other risk factors for heart disease, you really should get it done. I've had it many times and it is no big deal at all. Actually, it saved my life, as it helped diagnose a major blockage in one of my arteries (my EKG was fine too; that is common in people with heart disease).

The only risk might be if you are allergic to the radioactive isotope, which would be really rare. A pharmacological stress test is similar to the nuclear stress test on the treadmill, except instead of having you exercise on the treadmill to get your heart rate up, they use a medication to do it.
