Hi all! Hope your holidays are going really nicely. I have been seeking out a therapist who is familiar with CBT. I had one nice email response from a licensed social worker who is trained in CBT and ERP. Do you recommend I only seek a person who is licensed specifically in CBT? I already like the sound of her from her sympathetic emails and her understanding of OCD. What experience have you had? What type of professional do you see for this therapy? Does insurance typically cover it? She said she was going to check with her billing manager to see if it was. Thank you for your input.

Erin-

A few things you want to ask of a prospective therapist are: 1. How much experience do you have treating OCD and anxiety disorders? 2. How long have you been in practice? 3. What is your approach to treating OCD? 4. Do you believe in using just medications, just therapy, or medications combined with therapy? 5. Are you a member of the Associate of Cognitive Behaviorists?

These are questions I would ask if I was seeking a new therapist, and it's important to find someone you like. Let us know how your search goes.:D
