Both my arms go numb all night long, It wakes me up with the pain, once I start moving them and shaking them the pain will go away until I fall asleep again. Now my arms ache even during the day. I try keeping them dowm by my side but that doesn't even help.

I would think maybe its the position you sleep in. Sometimes I wake up and my legs are so numb that the pain is unbearable and it last during the day. I tried different ways of sleeping and different positions and that worked. You may be putting your arms in really uncomfortable positions at night that cut off the circulation.

At least that would be my first guess.

It actually sounds like you have some pinched nerves going on ...maybe Carpel Tunnel Syndrome...read about it. This is not normal and should never happen. Seek medical attention for what can be done. good luck.

sounds like you need to see a Dr. you may have bursitis, tendonitis, a possible disc problem or maybe even carpel tunnel, all of these things are treatable. I would go see the Dr.

Good luck, Helen

Thanks, I have a couple bad discs, I never thought about them. The bad discs are in my neck and lower back.

Have you had your thyroid tested? Low thyroid can cause numbness.

i hate when people say that its the position you sleep in. i'm having the same problem, and it happens in what ever position i sleep in. i've tried elevating my arms, keeping them strait by my side, and strait out. nothing works, if it happens tonight i'm going to the hospital

i'm just glad to hear im not the only one going through this, i try to talk to my boss at work about it, he's a real immature person for 50 yrs old. i'd ask him have your arms ever gone numb while you sleep, and he responded with "Maybe You're Masturbating too Much". i dont need that kind of advice

anyway if i go to the hospital i'll let you know what they say
