My husband has no problem getting to sleep then all of a sudden he wakes up during the night 2-3 times. He says I can't sleep & I tell him he was just snoring & he says no I wasn't. What is that?

My husband does this!!!! He'll say that he can't sleep and then seconds later he's snoring! Sometimes he wakes himself up and then says that he can't sleep and like I always do I'll tell him oh but honey yes you can because you were just sleep seconds ago and snoring I must add!! Oh, by the way, my husband has sleep apnea. This only happens when he doesn't wear his CPAP machine to bed. Before he got the machine he could fall asleep at the drop of a hat because of sleep deprivation and not getting good rest because of the apnea. I hope this helps.

Best Wishes!

Same thing, he was sup to go for sleep study but never did. He also makes all kinds of weird noises w/his throat & nose. I can't see him wearing anything to sleep though, knowing him.

It sounds like sleep apnea.. if it is and he can not tolerate a CPAP there are surgical options like a tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and a UPPP. However first things first he need to see a sleep specialist, get tested, and learn how sleep apnea if that is the cause can affect him and those around him. The other fact is sleep apnea is genetically linked. If he has it.. so can you kids or grandkids. I won't get into sleep apnea in children and the issues stopping breathing over 30 times a minute can cause.. but it effects everything from growth, health, behavior and possibly worse. You might be able to use these arguements to help him help himself.

Good luck.
Sincerely,
MG

P.S. My mother and brother have sleep apnea.. I have severe sleep apnea.. my five year old son has sleep apnea.. and my husband has sleep apnea. Stats show 2 out of 100 have it and only 1 out of 5000 get treated. Most can be cured with a simple T&A surgery.. and thus early diagnosis is the best. However those with severe sleep apnea may still have it after surgery (my son and I are examples of that) and just have to adjust to their CPAP for life. CPAP's have been a saving grace for my family. The quality of sleep we get on them versus off of them is dramatic and thus you would have to fight us to take them away. My five year old sleeps 12 hours a day on his and now is growing again and healthy staying in the 95% range once more. I hope that you find your answers soon.

Thanks for info & I'm glad your family is doing good. As far as the kids this is my 2nd husband & any kids are not by him but I have a daughter who is 39 & I know she has it, snores real loud etc. Prob w/her is she is on SSI & only has medicaid so they won't even help w/that. We have had so many medical prob thru the yrs can't even help w/what it would cost, really bothers me.
