View Full Version : Heart PVCs abd Sleep Apnea?

I was diag. with PVCs over the weekend after a visit to the ER.

Today, I met with my Doc....my PVCs are still steady and on-going, driving me nuts!

I was told that the chest x-ray, lab work, etc. that the ER did looked fine...and the 24h holter monitor that I did on Thurs/Friday showed the PVCs same as the ER visit.

But!!! My Doc said her main concern at this point was my very low heart rate shown during sleep on the monitor, around 3-5:am and she wants to hold off on using the beta blocker (Tropal XL 50mg)---since my heart rate showed so low during sleep and now I'm scheduled for a sleep apnea test!!!

She stated that PVCs can result from sleep apnea...has anyone heard of this? and she feels certain thats where the problem is.

I'm really at the end of my rope here, this is so difficult as many of you already know. I was hoping for some answers today but now I'm looking at a totally different problem now....PLUS dealing with the awful PVCs.

Any information is appreciated!

Hi,

Sleep apnoea is pauses in your breathing when you're asleep.. Sometimes you stop breathing for a very brief moment..

Let me look for some more information:
Sleep apnea, sleep apnoea or sleep apnœa is a sleep disorder characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep. These episodes, called apneas (literally, "without breath"), each last long enough so one or more breaths are missed, and occur repeatedly throughout sleep. The standard definition of any apneic event includes a minimum 10 second interval between breaths, with either a neurological arousal (3-second or greater shift in EEG frequency, measured at C3, C4, O1, or O2), or a blood oxygen desaturation of 3-4 percent or greater, or both arousal and desaturation. Sleep apnea is diagnosed with an overnight sleep test called a polysomnogram.
