I was told that is helps with cholesterol control. Is this true ? I was also told to take it before breakfast daily. Pls advise if this is the proper practice.

Psyllium is the "active ingredient" in Metamucil and is a vegetable fiber. Any fiber MAY help a bit with cholesterol, but I wouldn't expect any miracle cures with it.
Be sure to drink enough water: it normally has a mild laxative effect, but will bind you up if you don't drink enough water.

Phsillium Husks are a water-soluble fiber and as such have been shown to be effective in lowering LDL cholesterol. Most testing has shown reductions in the range of 5-20% by using supplemental fiber. Phsillium, Pectin and rolled oats are all good sources of water-soluble fiber. Be sure to let us know how it works for you.
