Remember the days where friends dared each other? Well, it is still happening folks. Last year, I moved in with some friends til I was able to get my housing. Anyhow, they noticed that I was on a bunch of meds for acid reflux, and I would go through 3 of those big bottles of rolaids a month. Roommate happened to have his own business, market america..offers a big line of well natural things and partnership with tons of well known stores. I was dared by him to stop all my meds for 2 months and drink 2oz of aloe juice every morning. At first, it was awful. But after a month..I noticed I was feeling a whole lot better. So I ate a food that would normally kill me in reflux, only to have to eat 2 rolaids verses the 10 + my meds I would do. After 2 months, I realized instead of 3 big bottles of rolaids I was doing 1. A month after that, I was down to just an occasional rolaid. Anyhow, I share this cuz it worked so well for me. Aloe juice tastes horrid--but in the long run, I think it is worth it cuz your saving your liver from all those meds you had to take.

I think alo vera juice helps me with my LPR. I should drink it every day but seem to start "hitting the bottle" when I have a bad flare. It coats my vocal cords and doesn't taste that bad to me since all the GERD/LPR has damaged my sense of taste and smell. I believe you can mix the juice with Tang or something else if the taste is that bad for you. I've always heard that Tums and other OTC meds won't make a dent in real GERD/LPR but I do think in addition to PPI's that taking OTC meds help any break through. I've tried another natural product that worked quite well for me and got off meds for awhile, but the problem was the cost. It was cheaper to use the PPI's (since insurance) than to continue the natural product. I also take several others meds and wish I could discontinue all of them and take only natural products. I do believe in vitamins, herbs and other natural juices and such but feel you still should be careful in mixing these products even if they stressed of being all natural. I'd check it out with your friend! Sounds like it working! Good Luck.

I used to have TERRIBLE acid reflux. Went on the Internet and found Digestinol, which is nothing but VERY strong aloe vera. Now I can drink coffee and I am soooo much better. Try looking it up on the web and see the testimonials. It is fairly expensive, but well worth the moola. Good luck

Hi Danabarb,
I was wondering how long did you take the Digestinol before you got results?

I've heard that, but I tried it and my heartburn was never so bad afterward. Some people say it works, though.

Aleet7; I cannot give you a definite answer to that because it was quite a few years ago and my acid reflux had gotten TERRIBLE. I took numerous digestinol pills-something like three in the evening, some at lunch and maybe some at breakfast. I recently told a friend of mine about this and she went out and bought some aloe vera and saw immediate results. If you do buy the Digestinol, you don't have to follow the directions to the nose, if you don't want to. Wish I could be of more help.
