Hi all,
I want to share my symptoms with you all and to ask your advice really as i am questioning myself wether i have VN or MAV. Doc diagnosed VN some time ago but he was an ENT and we all know on hear that they are not too hot when it comes to dizzy issues!
my symtoms as follows:
heavy head
neck pain
pain kind of at the base of my skull
eye strain pain (i wear glasses full time)
headache of some type most days
constant imbalance/dizziness
disorientation
sometimes feel like im in my own little world
funny pains in my head, cant really describe.

The worst symptom i have is the dizziness, i have this constant, although sometimes it eases off a bit and sometimes there are days when i feel quite normal. I feel like when i turn my head it gets worse like my eyes cant keep up with what i am looking at. I now have anxiety issues because of the dizziness and that makes the whole thing worse. I have days where i feel i can deal with it and then days were i feel down because of feeling this way all the time. I am currently on 20 mg of cipramil daily, this seemed to help at the beginning but now im finding it isnt now. I have cut migraine trigger foods out.I am due a review at the docs soon,i am gonna discuss the likely hood of me having a hormone imbalance of having MAV and maybe try norityptiline or the like and see how i go. I am 28 and have a 17 month old little girl, this all started when i started trying for a baby. any ideas advice?

When you started trying for your baby, were you on birth control pills for a length of time and then got off of them? There is a very strong probability that your problems can be of hormonal imbalance and you need to balance out your system again by either getting back on to b/c or other options. It is very common around/after childbirth to have your hormones out of whack and your symptoms sound exactly like mine before I started taking estradiol supplementation. Give it a try and don't let your doctor tell you it can't be hormone related (especially if it is a MALE doctor who has no clue about hormone imbalance).

Mine started when I was 8 months pregnant. After 16 months I was diagnosed with MaV...

Yes, absolutely! In fact, since you are actually ON b/c right now, it could just be that you need a different kind. That particular kind of b/c could be giving you too much or too little hormones. Do some research on this. There is something called "Yaz" that is a popular b/c, or you can try something else. It definitely sounds like hormones to me.

Charlotte - you should also look into the hormone route since I think you have had this for quite some time. I have 4 children and after my last child (who is 2 now), it was about a year after she was born that I started to feel funky. Definitely a hormone thing. It's like our hormones get out of whack and need to be regulated again. And yes, hormones being out of whack can make you feel horrid with all of the symptoms we talk about in here. In fact, the hormone site that I visit frequently (not this site) has different boards for all of the symptoms that hormone imbalance can cause (dizziness, insomnia, headaches, fatigue, foggy head, etc.).

I know exactly how that is Maria - I used to have only 1 or 2 days a month where I would feel "almost" normal, and the rest of the days like dying. It is just absolutely terrible!

Ask your OB/GYN doc to order you a hormone panel blood test that tests your levels of estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone. Then after you get the results you can do a little research on what the results mean and if your levels are low, etc.

My blood tests indicated low estradiol, so the stuff I am taking is called "Divigel". It comes in various doses and I am on the lowest dose at .25 (it comes in little premade packets of gel). I apply one in the morning and one at night for a total of .50mg estradiol.

But your test may be something totally different - maybe your progesterone is off or testosterone. There are supplements for that too, one of them being the natural progesterone cream that is actually available over the counter. That really helps some women too, balance things out.

Let me know how it goes!
