I'm thinking when I go for an eye exam next month to look into the idea of getting contacts.
I don't know if this is a problem however, I have terrible reflexes and I cannot touch my eye or even attempt to act like I am putting contacts...
I feel this might pursuade the doc to tell me, well, you can't put them on..
I know practicing might help, but what if I pay all this money and just cannot put them on?

Well, you should check if this is true with your supplier in the USA, but here in the UK we generally do a contact lens 'insertion and removal' appointment before we sell you any contact lenses. In this way we never allow a patient to leave our premises with contact lenses that he/she cannot competently use. Of course, contact lens laws are stricter over here than in the USA, due to the GOC regulations, but I am sure they would want to show you the same level of care.
Hope that helps, and good luck - I have never met a person who could not be taught in the end, even those who were really scared.

If you think your going to have trouble handling contacts...Depending on what your RX is there are extended wear contacts, that you can sleep with for a week or month at a time. That are good for a month. Please know "that some older Dr." They will say no this is not possbile but it is. You cannot get eye infections from sleeping with contacts on, you get eye infections from dirty hands or not washing your hands. Most Drs will give you a trial set of contacts to try before you buy a box of contacts. Hope this helped, let ne know!

I found getting them out harder than putting them in when I first got contacts. Now, after many years, it is so easy. I couldn't do it the way they showed me, my friend shared her trick.
I think it is one of those things that "is" for some folks and not for others. You'll probably just have to give it a shot and see. Any new prescription I get is a trial, I'm sure it's included in the cost of the exam. In my experience, you have to do a follow up appointment before they will actually write you a prescription.
Majority of eye professionals will not recommend wearing a 30 day contact continously. Even when used a a bandage for an injury, they change it every 2 weeks. I wouldn't consider it, there are potential consequences. The manufacturers have the approval to sell them (and make money) but they aren't going to advertise the potential adverse effects which are still being debated. Wear them only during the day. You don't even want problems.
If you get soft contacts, they should be comfortable right away. Any scratchiness or irritation might mean you picked up some debris. I had to change solutions, I was allergic to an ingredient and it was like having a seasonal allergy.
I think it is challenging for most people at first. I think your desire to want to wear them has got to be greater than your fear of touching your eye.
Good luck!

You'll probably get used to it with a little practice. I was nervous about it at first, but once you realize that you're not going to hurt yourself if you're careful you'll probably feel better.
Here's an idea: get some plain eye-drops or saline solution and wet freshly washed finger-tips with the solution. (Clip your nails short too beforehand.) See if you can put the soft pad of your fingertip into the corner of your eye, where it's not very sensitive. The white of your eye is not very sensitive either, so try to work up to touching that with solution covered fingertips.
I found that the way they show you to remove contacts doesn't work very well and can be uncomfortable, so I just put my finger on the lens and slide it into the inner corner of my eye to gently grab hold of it. (Like I'm dragging a hair or something out.) It often makes the lens fold in half some, which is probably not great but has never damaged my lenses... I've been wearing them for about 8 years.
Oh, your doctor should let you try a trial pair of lenses for free. They let me do that if I want to change brands too. Good luck - just don't stress about it!
