I have had four surgeries on my right foot after a bunion surgery gone wrong. The fifth surgery an Ortho Dr. tried to balance my foot by realigning the big toe (it does not hurt) and then put in three titanium pins in three of my toes (middle ones). That was 18 months ago. Since the sixth month I have been in horrible pain several times per month in the toes area. They swell, are on fire and I can only get the pain to subside by soaking them in ice water and taking strong drugs. My GP Dr. says it is neuropathy and put me on 600 mg of Neurontin. I have gone back to my foot surgeron and he also agrees it is neuropathy and has prescribed an insert to take the pressure off the front of my foot. I say it is the pins and think they should come out. I wonder if anyone else has had a bad reaction to titanium pins in the foot? If so, what has been your solution? Thanks.
