I've heard they are not accurate but they are consistent, in my case. Does any know if they err on the side of *over* or *under* reporting blood pressure? I do have a manual cuff, but usually when I'm at the point where I feel I need to monitor I am stressed and my BP always comes out on the higher side. "Surprise" measurements at the dentist and at my mom's using wrist monitors came out lower.

I don't really know about them except my doctor said the wrist and finger ones are unreliable. Take it in to your doctor next time you go and they can compare it with their readings.

Coincidence of coincidences, the new June '03 issue of Consumer Reports has a very informative report on Blood Pressure monitors!

They say that the wrist monitors , while fully automatic, were generally the most convenient but LEAST consistent type of monitor they tested.
