View Full Version : Basis Lipitor/CoQ10 question from a newby standpoint

I've been taking 10mg of Lipitor daily for several years and now realize thru web sites like this one that many of the symptoms I have (muscle aches, upset stomach, lots of gas mostly belching, etc.) are not just because I'm getting older but could very well be as the result of taking Lipitor.

I was surprised to find out I should be taking CoQ10 along with the Lipitor (my doctor has never mentioned this).

My question(s) - how much CoQ10 should I take daily; should I take it all at the same time or spread it out over the day; should I take it at the same time I take the Lipitor???

I'm also thinking about splitting the 10mg pill and take half or 5mg daily instead of the 10mg. I'm thinking this may lessen the side effects. I will not do this until I discuss it with my doctor. Taking the 10mg keeps all my lipid profile values within the acceptable range - but I want to try 5mg for awhile and and see if my counts raise much. Have anyone taken this approach???

As I stated, I'm new at this site so any comments will be greatly appreciated. I plan to visit with my doctor within the next couple weeks and he is very open-minded so I'm hoping he will go along with trying new approaches. My total cholesterol was almost 400 before I went on the Lipitor.
