I finally got my heart montior results back..they said I am okay I just have a rapid heart beat at times and I am sensitive to this that is why I can feel them. They said everytime I wrote that I had a flutter my heart beats were averaging 128 beats a minute..not enough to concern them..Well I'm concerned because I read on the internet that diuretics can cause this and my diovan has them in it..what are all your thoughts on this? thanks, Lisa

Hi Lisa-
Sorta knew your monitor results would be A-OK....(!)
From your other latest posts, the Natural Calm has you feeling really great lately. If your aren't feeling palpitation anymore, I wouldn't worry.

If you are, my question would be, IF it's the diuretic component in Diovan HCT, would you do okay on straight Diovan alone? (That's what I'm on.) Or had you tried that and your doc added HCT to bring your #s down further?

Hi longell!

Yes, keep us posted! Don't forget!

Moxie! (I know your name is Lisa but I just LOVE the username you picked!)

As you may remember, I went through beta blockers, ACEs and straight diuretics before we got to Diovan (non HCT).
I started out on 80mg a day, but my #s remained still too high.
160mg did the trick with no side effects .

So, it's a thought...you trying Diovan straight, especially since you have absolutely no heart disease or other health issues that would warrant the addition of a diuretic.

Diuretics are great.... don't get me wrong..and the drug of choice for simple hypertension IF TOLERATED. But if they may be the cause of your flutters and palps, then def. speak to your doc and let us know what you decide.

Moxie was a softball team name I was on in school and I loved it then and love it now. As for your advice I agree about the diuretics. I would prefer to have the HCTZ on hand if I feel that I am retaining fluid and take when I need to which may only be 2 times a month. I will ask my doctor about just the diovan when I need another refill..take care and have a great day, Lisa
