Well my doctor of a few years no longer accepts this plan. Which sucks cause he was right around the block from my house and i really liked him. Anyways i need to find a new one now but i'm not sure about going about this. When i became a member of medicaid i went down to an office and filled out some paperwork, we picked my doctor right then and there and a few weeks later i received two insurance cards in the mail, one a benefits card, and one that has my primary care doctors name on it that i picked and a separate number and my amount of copayments.

Now my question is do i have to do this process all over again? or can i just call them up ( which is always hard since they have like 500 phone numbers to call and i can never find the right one) and have them pick another doctor over the phone? Or is neither of this necessary and i can just look in my book of doctors that i got from them, pick my own doctor, then show them my other benefits card when i go and start seeing them right away? Hope what im asking makes sense.

What i would suggest you do is to look in your list of providers and pick out another primary care physician. Call your plan and ask they change to this provider. Most medicaid insurance plans will change and will send you new cards to indicate your new doctor. Do not show up at a doctors office without doing this first as they cannot see you if you have not done the above first. Hope this helps.

I've worked in healthcare insurance in doctors offices and facilities for over 30 years. :)
