I Had An Abnormal Pap 6 Months Ago And Was Told I Am Hpv+ Which I Was Shocked To Know-truly Had No Idea. Colposcopy Was Done And It Showed Chronic Cervicitis. Told To Come Back In 6 Months To Have Another Pap-uggggh 6 Months Is Now Here And I Am Going For Pap Again In A Couple Of Weeks And I Am Feeling Nervous As Hell Once Again. I Just Don't Want To Go Through This Again And Quite Honestly If It Comes Out Abnormal What Are They Going To Do Take Out Another Piece Of Me? I Know They Have To Keep Tabs Of The Cellular Change But I Am Sickkkkkkkk Of It-sorry Just Needed To Tell The World How Scared I Am And That There Is A Part Of Me That Just Does Not See The Point Of Another Pap So Sooon.

Hi,

As you know, frequent Paps are necessary to monitor any possible changes in the cervical cells from HPV. I know how scary it is, but believe me, the alternative is even scarier. You just have to get through it one Pap at a time.

It's funny, but as I read your post, I remembered an an article I just read today about how everything is relative, which brought up some interesting points.

For example, for you, having another Pap six months after having one abnormal Pap which only showed chronic cervicitis is worrisome and scary.

For me, I'd be happy to have Paps just every six months. I've been having Paps every three months for the past two years and am on an every three month schedule for the next two years because of numerous abnormal Paps and colposcopies which showed moderate/severe dysplasia and finally carcinoma in situ (Stage 0 cervical cancer.) I would gladly switch places with you.

On the other hand, one of the other ladies here who just recently posted would almost certainly rather be in both our shoes, as she's been battling Stage 3 cervical cancer which recurred and caused her to need a 9-hour surgery to remove everything (radical vulvectomy). She now has to have 8 weeks of radiation therapy which causes her such extreme pain that she can barely walk. (But she has a great attitude about it. You should check out her post.)

Then there is a dear lady named Ellen on another board who is in hospice care dying of the ovarian cancer she's battled for the past 5+ years. I'm sure she'd gladly switch places with all of us.

So, as bad as our problems are, remember, there's always someone dealing with something much worse. It's all relative.

Good luck with your follow-up Pap. Let us know how everything turns out.

Big hugs,

Lisa

If you are tired if it, then I suggest you look into how to naturally heal yourself. Some women have been doing it on their own and other went to holistic doctors. The thing behind it is, your body is off balance and you use herbs-teas/tampon soaks, vitamins in the form of pills and suppositories to help the body heal itself. Normal medical doctors don't tell you about this, normally, because they prescribe medications or perform biopsies, surgeries, etc. It is worth a shot. I have been looking into it for some time and I am coming up on 2 years worth of abnormal results and after my Jan. 10th appointment, which I assume will also be positive, I will start a vitamin, suppository, and tea regimine.

Shashi, WOW! What an eye-opener! I too have just been diagnosed with HPV. The doc performed a biopsy and I was told that of mild, moderate, and severe displaysia, I had severe. What I have is not cancer just yet but the doc says if I don't have a LEEP procedure to remove the lesions, I am likely to develop cervical cancer soon. I have been a bit concerned and maybe a little self-centered through this all but I want to say thank you for opening up my eyes to all of those who are way worse off than I am. I think everyone could benefit from reading your post. I hope everything works out for you and God bless all of the others you mentioned who are truly going through a living hell. I certainly realize that my situation could be worse than it is, and more importantly, I appreciate that fact.
