My father wants to save money on electricity and is buying these bulbs that are economic and I think, environmentally safe.

The thing is, I just feel that they are ruining my eyes....I get the feeling that there isn't enough light. You know, the kind of bulbs they put in closets or basements I guess.

Also we have a dimmer and he tells us to dim the lights. The bill came to around $200 this month (mind you, we still have people renovating the house.) But I just feel like my eyes are not getting enough light. I can't read comfortably in that light. Is it me?

Energy saving lamps work on the same principle as long fluorescent tubes and some people are sensitive to them because they are effectively switching on and off very fast (60 times per second in the US). They cannot be used with a dimmer.
